Crossed a bucket list item off my list today. I'd never killed a snowshoe hare. I'd been seeing lots of tracks while looking for lions, so I gave it a go today. Not for the faint of heart. The snow was about high thigh deep. The snowshoes helped, but still very challenging.



My son and I bought shoulder holsters for our 22's for just this sort of thing. He's going with me in the morning. We will look for a lion for him, but we will get a pile of exercise looking for hares either way.

Nice! Looks like fun! I love eating rabbits!

Not sure that one is bucket list. Maybe sippy cup list.

looks like a blast - I have always wanted to snowshoe and adding hunting to it just gives it a purpose

Hey, I've hunted Mountain Goats at 13,000 feet, kudu on the edge of the Kalahari desert, bighorn in the San Juan's, and with my snowmobile, this was tough. Without, impossible. I'll call it a bucket.

The worse it is, the more often I go. Just wish we'd have some lions show up. Had some on camera in September. Finally getting some use out of that high end Kuiu gear I bought for my goat hunt.

I'd probably add, "took a selfie with a mountain lion" to that list

But a white rabbit got me excited enough I missed the first shot and had to trail it another 50 yards to get another.

I'm not that brave. Just had the opportunity to hunt with and now own some good dogs. The credit is the dogs.

Ok, they were taken in reverse order. The last was my first, buddy was with me, his idea. I wasn't very good at selfies. This was actually my first.

As I got better at taking them, I got happier.

Son and I hiked a lot of really deep snow to not find any more snowshoes today. I must've been super lucky to find the one I did. Rather be lucky than good.

Congrats buddy. We are covered in hares down in Meeker. Might have to live vicariously thru you and get me one and make some dirty rice.

I have been out on the snow shoes this past week looking for lion tracks. It is quite a workout. Got some snow last night and going to go again this afternoon.
