I'm so lost since this isn't in my wheelhouse at all.
We want to plink around on our property without bugging the neighbors.

I have a Ruger Mark IV 22/45 (probably buying another since I don't want to mess with my personal one) and a Ruger 10/22. How do I go about figuring out what will work? These will be in my name and it's kind of a surprise to my husband so I don't want to ask him too many questions… so here I am!

Sounds to me like the first question isn't which suppressor but which manner of ownership is correct long term... Want the husband to shoot the suppressor but in your name...so he won't ever shoot on his own?

22 cans Id look at ease of cleaning & durability. I like the Sparrow for both of those. Could also just sort by price and be OK..

Id shy away from anything with bad first round pop in a pistol.

Sparrows are good cans but they're heavy and have pretty bad pistol FRP.

My current favorite for the price.

Colorado has a pretty easy process for suppressors, much easier than when we got one in Texas. We have all the legal stuff figured out… I'm just not sure what suppressors/brands are any good.

SiCo Spectre 2

Run one on a pistol and a rifle and it's stupid quit on both.

These dudes. They do everything for you. Mail you your fingerprint cards, do a trust for you, etc. They even have payment plans for you to pay while you wait on the ATF to approve, so you can hide the sticker shock from the wife!

Love my Banish 30. Took about 14 months

I have no opinion regarding which suppressor would fit your needs. I do have a couple of suggestions though based on my experiences going back about eight years when I bought my first.

1. I have bought my first ones through the Silencer Shop and used their on-line trust. While this served my needs at the time, I was being a little "penny wise, pound foolish". I thought I'd only buy one so didn't want to spend the extra to go to an attorney. (Yeah right, like saying I'm only going to buy one gun?) I realized later that there was a lack of flexibility with the on-line trust. How do add people? What if I want to loan my suppressor to someone? How do I transfer the suppressor to someone else?

I decided to initiate a "real trust" through an attorney. I used Jim Willi from Austin. Most internet searches for a gun trust attorney in Texas will show him. It was painless, but can also have a conversation with him about specific concerns. Perhaps the on-line trusts have improved since I did mine, but think this would be wise.

2. If you can find a gun range near you that sells suppressors, that is also a good option. You can go "check out" your suppressor from jail, shoot it, then turn it back in when done. If you do a paper filing, the wait is likely over a year, making this even more advantageous. Even with the e-file, the wait is at least 90 days. I bought one from McQueeney gun range and used it there. My last one was from Cedar Ridge range in Bulverde. Cedar Ridge also did all my paperwork.
