Looking to get some new glass and have been looking at both the Riton primal 3-12x56 and the vortex viper 2.5-10x44.

Has anyone had any experience with these two? I am just curious as I have held and looked through the Vortez but not the Riton.

i am pretty sure they are lower on the spectrum compared to the viper model though.

No experience with either of those but in that price point, I really like the Leupold vx3hd in 4.5-14x40.

I just bought this scope last week and looking forward to sighting it in!

I had a Vortex HS and didn't like it. I thought the overall clarity was pretty poor. I know that's a very subjective thing, so your results may vary. I have been very pleased with the Leupold VX-5HD for a hunting scope.

How much better is it than the 3D? I have read it is worth the price, but was wondering if you had any experience

It's over budget, but not grossly over. I'd look at a NF SHV 3-10. Maybe find one used or demo.

It'll blow either of those and Leupold outa the water, especially where it counts.

I know Nightforce is well respected but what do they do better? Ive looked at them before but couldnt get past the weight so never even considered them as a potential option. That scope is listed at 22.2 Oz. Really dang heavy for a 3-10x42. The similar Leupold comes in at 13.1 Oz. A significant difference on a hunting gun.

3rd here. I have two of them and the CDS deal is great. You just register the scope online with your ammunition details and environmental conditions and they mail it to you.

Reading this thread I just realized that it's been over 20 years since I bought a new scope. Sounds like the new technology is a great improvement. Leupold fan but I do have a 50mm Swarovski that's around 25 years old so I'm over due to try something new.

How much difference is there performance wise between the 3hd and the 5hd?

My first and second requirements of an aiming device are durability and reliability, by a long shot. YMMV

I spent way too much money on a Seekins Havak Element and put a NXS on it because it just has to work.

Just got this scope mounted and it blew my VX3i out of the water.

I would encourage this as it has stellar reviews.
