Lions....I assume we mean of the mountain variety right.

Just asking for clarity here...

Lions…. Of the North American Lion type.

No shlt! Never heard that. Jaguars I knew yes, never heard about lions

Let's be clear here….we're talking about mountain lions. There weren't "North American Lions" in Texas 100 years ago. More like 12,000 years ago.

went to dinner with my gfs grandfather this evening and he told me they used to hunt timberwolves in nacadoches county back in the day. makes me sad we've killed species like the jaguar and wolves off in such a small amount of time.

i've always wanted to get a full tweed hunting suit and show up to hunting camp. but, dropping over a grand for a goof is probably not smart money.

We could reintroduce jaguars, and they'd have more than enough prey with feral pigs.

Could you imagine the NextDoor posts about jaguars stalking the suburbs taking out some hausfrau's cat she just lets roam because "Fluffy likes to be an outdoor kitty"???

Glorious.

Go back 10-15 thousand years, we had not just American lions, but camels, mammoths, giant sloths, horses, giant beavers, smilodon...

That would have been amazing to see.
Saw a couple at the Dirty Sock back in the late 90's, so it actually wasn't that long ago. And yes, they were amazing to see...

They are also native to the Ocean Cabar near the Galveston causeway.

I've been hunting dove when some grandpas and their buddies showed up. Most would be in pressed trousers, belts, long sleeve oxfords and a nice vest. Never a tie, but I'll be they wore one hunting at some point. Cool era.

Well now we simply must do it, and not just for the help with feral pigs!

Well I saw a cougar driving a jaguar. Does that count for anything?

Jaguars are seen in Arizona from time to time., thought to be wandering males.
So it might be in our lifetimes they return on their own if they aren't reintroduced first.

Man, even the police chief won't let his officers work there off hours.
