My damage was from shooting with no ear protection when young , chain saws, airplane engines but most of all from running fast racing boats. Otologist told me running 70 mph in a boat is equivalent to shooting a 12 gauge all day. I had no idea.
I had what he called " sudden sensineural hearing loss". Then loud tinnitus set in.
Your right. Truly maddening. I went 21 days with almost no sleep. Brain learned to adjust somewhat. But some nights or days it's living hell.
I will pray for you my friend. Keep the faith.
Not meant to de rail.

Just got done shooting my new lever gun this evening right before dark. It's the Rossi Triple Black. 16.5" barrel paired with the SiCo Hybrid with the .46 cal front cap.
.38 special is so quiet when shooting suppressed. Haven't shot any .357 mag out of it yet, been having hell finding any.
