Longtime lurker on the Outdoor Board.

I wanted to give a shout out and to recommend Cory (LRHF) to anyone looking for a fly guide in Durango or Southwest Colorado.

Short story, we had a guys trip planned and were planning on doing a self sufficient fly trip one of the days. Our group was originally 4 experienced fly fisherman and 4 non-experienced. Two days before our trip, 3 of the 4 experienced guys had to back out due to work, sick, etc.

I had read LRHF's post on this board and knew he lived and guided in the Durango area. I texted Cory two days prior on a long shot to see if he was available to tackle on taking 5 guys fly fishing. 4 of those guys, including myself, very inexperienced.

We talked on the phone and he told us the expectations of having such a large group and there only being one of him and that he couldn't be with everyone at the same time and that we would have to be a little self sufficient.

We agreed and understood his approach with such a large group and planned on meeting at Purgatory the next morning to go fish for native cutthroat on the Hermosa river.

We met at 9am drove to the parking lot at Hermosa Creek and hiked 3 miles in. We then fished back up river towards the trucks and finished around 5:30pm. A long great day on the river! I think between the 5 of us we caught 30+ fish and due to inexperience missed on many more.

It was a great trip that I would say was a hybrid between a fully guided and self sufficient trip and exceeded our expectations, especially on such short notice.

Cory was great to talk to and very personable and had beers back at the truck for us.

Anyways, if you are up in that area and wanting to fly fish or learn to fly fish, give Cory a call!

Probably not a horns up. When I first got to A&M from Georgia, I did that "devil/rock" sign until people had to tell that was a no/no.

Or it could be a horns up. So if it is, F dat guy, I hope he didn't catch anything, lol.
