I keep a varmit cage on my deer feeder using 3 "heavy duty" black rubber bungee cords I purchased at TSC. I installed a set back in March and noticed last weekend they were dry, cracked and had lost much of their elasticity.

I've not really used the elastic rope like straps much and not sure if they would hold up much better. I'm guessing I might need to use some ratchet straps but that almost seems overkill.

Curious if anyone had better strap solutions. The raccoons are getting bigger and i've caught 2 and one tim hanging on the cage so need something that can support he weight.

Go to a truck stop or semi truck/trailer dealer and buy tarp tie down bungee cords. They are higher quality and more resistant to UV breakdown than the ones you can get at a normal store.

They're all going to fail with a little time. Can you not use self tapping screws?

It's a solid cage so if I use screws then I can't get into the timer or battery

Couple eye bolts and gate latches / carabinars work well as a permanent solution that's quick on and off.
