What life span do you get out of your main battery? What size and type of battery do you run? I've been getting 2 years out of a Walmart deep cycle 29DC.

Is anyone having any better luck?

Buddy sells Interstate batteries and he said I should expect about two years. I've used Interstate and NAPA deep cycle and get about 24 months.

We use them on two Apollo's on the ranch. Agree. 4 years plus.

I have to look next time I open the control box after fighting off the spiders and wasp, but I got about 8 years from first battery and put a deep cycle back in it. It might have been an mighty max. I will Report back this weekend once I look.

I cycle 6-8 times a day.

We had two. One was ranch main gate... it gets cycled 5-6 times a day. The 2nd was the headquarters area... house, barns etc. It gets cycled 10-12 times a day average.
Like you we have had the best service out of those batteries.
Tried Everstarts, Interstates, Continentals... none made barely two years max.

better off to just run power to it and get rid of the solar charger and put a trickle charger on it.

or do what i did and get rid of the Apollo and switch brands to a purely electronic machine. liftmaster makes a good one. only thing is that if power gets knocked out in a storm, you get to open the case and switch to manual to get in or out and you get soaked, but so far i like it better than replacing batteries every year

Just replaced mine this morning after 5 years, very happy with that. 6-12 cycles per day. Replaced with an Interstate from Costco ($89), we will see.

Which one did you get at Costco?

Also, be sure your solar panel gets plenty of sun. I had mine at first too close to an oak tree and the battery died after a year. I moved the panel down the fence to more sun and it has been fine for five years.

Interstate 27DC Marine battery, same specs as the Everstart battery pictured that was being replaced.
