Looking for some road accessible wade fishing spots around Port A. This will be my sons first trip down there and wanting to let him wade fish some. No boat this trip for us.

Aside from the beach front, Brown & Root Flats. You'll have to drive across the ferry. And it's a long walk. This time of year you'll have to get there early before the bite shuts down.

Or free line live shrimp along the shrimp boat channel on a moving tide. It's also across the ferry.

ETA:

I've caught fish park and wading the four areas in red. Stedman Reef is by Fin & Feather. The long red line is Shrimp Boat Channel, AKA Aransas Channel. The oval is B&R Flats. The small red dot has no name as far as I know.

Many people fish at the Packery Channel. There is current there though, which attracts the fish. Also we saw folks at the Kennedy bridge. On the drive to Aransas Pass I saw wade fishers there on both sides of the road.

My friend that lives in Aransas Pass catches all kinds of trout, reds, and even tarpon sometimes in the channel between Aransas Pass and Port A (Aransas Channel) on the left side when going from AP to Port A

When heading towards Port A from AP, you will be getting close to the ferry (maybe 1 mile away).. just past the last set of 2 houses on the left side before the last bridge crossing (which is about 1 miles to the ferry), you will see some wooden poles in the water just past that last house on the channel, there is also a channel access road on your left just past those 2 houses... pull in there and fish around those wooden poles and towards the ferry side of the channel. He catches his limit of trout there all the time

Or as mentioned try Packery

Using this map, you may also try to turn right (southwest before the ferry right near the small 361 note) and go in the back side of Brown N Root. Saves a lot of mud walking unless that is what SA was talking about. There are some deep areas along the highway but you can see those pretty easily.

If you've got some time on your hands you might catch the jetty boat and go give the surf/jetty a try over on the north side. I watch a guy on YouTube that has been tearing up the trout over there.

Never heard of wade fishing in Pt. Arthur.

I lived there for three years and these were some of my best spots. This is fantastic advice.

If you are on the island you can go to Wilson's Cut, don't leave anything of value in your vehicle and wade out directly west along the channel for a while and turn right into the flats. Look for potholes and lots of stingrays but always had luck there as well as the spots that SanAntonAg posted

I mapped it out once before on Texags but can't provide a map now because I am on vacation and many cocktails in. You may be able to find it in a previous post. Good luck and post pics
