Saw this driving to Breckenridge a few weeks ago and my mind started to wonder. Is this some militant compound? Park County is known for its preppers.

Street view that sucker.

Lol! Yes! I just assume its some preper/branch dividian situation. Did you notice the 5th wheel painted all black? Hopefully someone has more of the story

A mine in the side of a road in the middle of a huge park?

Look at the vehicles in there. A black painted horse trailer?

Looks like people are up on those "ramparts" and are marked out in black on the street view.

Seems way out in the middle of nowhere for a tourist attraction.

I saw what looked like an old jeep, painted completely black, and had what looked like a machine gun mounted on top.

Like some mad max ****

It's the old cavalry fort from the Tumbleweeds cartoon with weirdos living in it.

it would never work. We could never agree on the most basic things like whether it needs to be high fenced or low fenced. Lawd hammercy if at dinner time someone found out the brisket was done fat side down.....

If you ever drive HWY 62 from Carlsbad to El Paso there are a few similar looking compounds within view of the HWY. Pretty desolate place to live.

Would it be a ranch? Don't think we could ever get a consensus on how much land to include to qualify though? And what would Mitch and company have to say about it?

Colorado's version of a barndo?

Definitely not a mine!

Looks like a cult compound that wasn't built far enough off the main road.

Interesting to see the evolution of the place on streetview. Looks like the crappy fence went up between 2009 and 2012, and the building between 2012 and 2018. Beast of a car for sale in the driveway in the 2018 pic.

interesting. Going back to 2008, it looks like it was just a trailer house on the side of the road, which you see plenty of up and down that stretch of highway.

Some point post-2008 it turned Mad Max fortress.

I think I would have build my cult fortress a little further off the road.

Colorado counties have GIS maps to look up land ownership:
https://maps.parkco.us/

This is the appraisal information on this land, along with ownership history (hope the link works):

Karl Koch. Not a common name. Appears to be a Karl Koch in Breckenridge that's an attorney who does a lot of criminal defense stuff. Looks fairly normal.

Hmmm.
