Upper order got cancelled for some reason. I have ammo on hand for the Grendel, but am now kind of wondering if I should just get a 6.5 cm in a cheaper bolt gun. I'd spend about 100 more than the upper, and have a more capable gun for large bodied whitetail and axis. Also, the Grendel ammo situation has me concerned. There were 3 boxes of Hornady black between all of the hou area academys, but they had plenty of cm.

I really like the idea of having the Grendel on the AR platform, but my heart tells me the cm makes more sense and I may wish for more w the Grendel.

Current calibers I have are 22-250, 243, and 7mm magnum, so it's not like I do t have a gun that can do what both of those can. I don't shoot the 7mm much bc of recoil, and I don't want to put a brake on it bc it was my dads. Also have a can in jail that will shush both. Would probably be looking at a ruger American predator if bolt

As little as I hunt w a gun I could get buy with borrowing, but what's the fun in that??

I have a .260 which is pretty close to the Creedmoor. You might find the 6.5CM to be more what you're looking for. Although the Grendel is a good round and would let you get more out of your AR.

.260 or 6.5cm would give you more than a .243 without going to the recoil of the 7 mag.

You should sell me that Grendel ammo is my suggestion.

Called EyeGuy. We talked for probably 30 min… I told him what I was looking to get out of a gun, and what I'd hunt with it.

After some discussion I decided on a savage hog hunter .308 w/ a 4-12x50 Leupold VX freedom. Grendel upper is still a possibility, just not right now. Really impressed with Justin's willingness to talk through things and find the best fit for the use. A lot of dealers will try to upswell and that wasn't the case here. Almost went w a ruger American, but think I made the right choice. Will update once everything comes in

.308 is pretty hard to argue with for a lot of uses. Definitely plenty for hogs without being too bad on recoil.

Okay. I got some ammo (4 boxes). Trying to decide on an upper/optic. Here is the issue I'm having…. I don't know whether to go 12" or 18" on bbl length.

12":
PROS: small, maneuverable, plenty of velocity for the shots I will take on game
CONS: would need to buy a can to suppress/ either have to stamp a lower or swap out w/ other pistol upper

18"
PROS: Can use my can (R9) on it/more velocity
CONS: Longer, not as cool

I want to go w the 12 so bad, but the 18" probably makes more sense

Mine is an 18" barrel with a can that is about 8.5" on it. Little long, but not so long that I can't maneuver it in the blind or when I'm out trapesing through the woods without any issues.

I have a Leupold 3.5-10x40 on it, works like a charm.

This will be for deer mainly. I don't shoot hogs to watch them fall in sight lol

The name of the gun seemed to indicate that you would use it for hogs. But deer would be no problem of course.

Didn't think about that. Very true. I really like that it's a 20" barrel vs 22. Eye guy is taking iron sights off

The only thing I would maybe have an issue with is noise. A 22" or 24" barrel won't be quite as loud, but with a .308 you may be fine.

I've got 4 Grendel's so, yeah I'm.a fan boy. Mm y favorites are my lightweight 16" and my lightweight 12". Use both for hogs.

123 gr SSTs and 90 gr TNT have been hell on hogs.

I've got a 12" PSA upper I'm looking to dump and a a 20" shilen heavy that shoots absolutely lights out that I'm getting rid of too.

I switched that one for a 18" 300Ham'r. Much lighter. Great hog gun too.

I run a nomad 30 on all of them and it sounds great on my 12"

Got the Grendel zeroed @ 100. Shot sub MOA w/ 100gn wolf… and I'm an average shot at best. Also sighted 556 upper w SPARC and shot the g2c a bit. This Grendel had me smiling like a pig in *****

Blade brace has to go, my shoulder feels like I shot a box of 300 win mag. Huge thanks to Vegas Ag for the Grendel upper and incoming obsession

Glad you got it and are enjoying it. Hate that I missed out on the ammo. It's a hell of a round, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Gun wasn't sighted in before I shot. At all. Last 3 rounds are 3 just to right and high of center. I don't have a ruler/ tape, but that seems around 1" to me.

Bought a sled awhile back. It has proven to be worth it, not just for me but friends as well. And especially with certain calibers harder to come by now. Helps take shooter out of equation. Caldwell

Yeah that Blade had me anticipating recoil to the point I was shooting 3 MOA @ 50 w 556 and 2 MOA dot at the end. Form 1 can't come soon enough!
