If you travel down to Encinal, Tx, at the corner of 35 S access rd and 44, near the RR tracks ,jump the barbed wire fence and start looking along in the brush for already started plants. They produce some very hot peppers. Don't pick up the small pieces of paper and cloth next to those plants.

Dug mine out of pasture 10 years ago. Dies back and regrows every year. Have about 30 new plants in the same pot.
Would be happy to put a few in a cup for ya.

My daughter did the same thing when she was about 2. Came inside and her face was bright red around the mouth and kept saying "hot berries". To her credit, she never cried but her eyes and nose were running. Took her into the minor emergency because we thought she got into some holly bushes. The doctors laughed when they figured it out. To this day she's still my one kid that will eat spicy food.
Mine survived the freeze in dallas. The Fall Guy said:powerbelly said:I assume that is how I got my plants. The Fall Guy said:

We have 10 plants in our backyard. They even survived the all the snow and ice 2 years ago. We are just south of Austin.
We got so many berries last year. We dried and ground them up and we use them all the time.
