What do yall know about the 4.6x30mm round? I have seen quite a bit on gun sites loving this round for self defense and I like that it went to an AR platform. I also like that the brake is far enough outside the handguard to remove and put on a QD and can. However, I am not a ballistics guy and curious what yall thought.

Edit to remove gunbroker link bc it went to 10mm set ups. Below is a better link.

The real question is how hard is the ammo to find?

I am all for new calibers, but for defense, I want something I can reliably find so I can actually practice with it.

ETA: I also don't see the advantage over .223 here.

I actually found quite a bit on Ammoseek for around $0.79/round. Better than I can find other calibers.

I am all for trying new things, and it looks like a neat round. That being said, it looks like a lot of testing was done which basically showed it was an inferior version of the 5.7.

Only 4.6 I am interested in is a full auto MP7! Shame I will likely never be able to buy one.

They're both great options if its the 80s and you're a rear echelon NATO soldier worried about penetrating VDV armor but don't want to lug an actual rifle around.

Otherwise….meh.
