Last weekend we picked up 17 pecan slabs from the kiln that a friend of mine had dried. Thanks to agrams for the recommendations on where to take it for milling and drying.

This tree came down last October in Garland. I made an orthophoto of the slabs today. Photos don't do it justice.

ETA: For scale, the ortho is about 40-feet long. The bigger slabs ~10.5-ft, smaller ~8.5-ft. All 2.5 inches thick.




They're for sale in Richardson if anyone is interested in a project.

Just out of curiosity,
1. What is the average width of the slabs?
2. What are you asking for one of the shorter slabs?

Tossing around the idea of making a very minimalistic
small desk.

Average is ~22", maybe? There is enough variation that the average isn't too useful. I can give just about any measurement detail you like on any particular slab.

I can also try to post a download link for the tiff image. You can measure off of the orthophoto and see a ton of grain detail. I think the pixels came out with a ground sample distance of <1mm.

I think he's looking for $500 as a start but I'm sure he'd entertain any reasonable offer.
