Looking to buy one and sizing online says multiple things. Most say size up?

If I wear a 7 1/4 in cowboy hat/baseball hats should I get a 7 3/8 Tilley?

Is this a "tell me you're over 60 without telling me you're over 60" thread?

More along the lines of me telling you "I had melanoma without telling you I had melanoma".

Bucket hats and big brim sun hats are all the rage at my house house.

Exactly why I wear one, except mine were just pre-cancerous.

I wear a Real Deal Brazil for the same reason. Missing a 2 ounce divot from my nugget woke me up.

Shelta for the win. Got 2 Tilleys that never get worn after buying a Shelta. Insert holds shape in the wind so you don't look like turn of the century whaler.

I went up 1/8" on my Tilley, it is still snug when it gets sweaty.

Good on ya for taking preventive measures. It always shocks me how many grown adults ignore the risks of long term sun exposure.

If you're gonna play outside, do it with a hat and long sleeves and sun block. Good stuff like blue lizard.

Yes, upsize 1/8" with a Tilley. The chin strap helps a lot if you are boating or outside in a lot of wind, so you don't have to rely on a snug fit for it to stay on your head. They make great hats.

Another one to add to your collection is a Sunbody 6" brim Gus. Not as breathable as a Tilley, but the wide brim protects the entire neck and face.

This is one of the reasons my kids wear big brimmed hats, light long sleeve shirts in the summer while working on the farm. Sports the get slathered in sunscreen and wear hats when applicable.

Even in cab tractors I wear sunscreen, hats and long sleeves. My father in law is the king of sleeveless shirts in the summer. I just don't understand him.

Just ordered a Seahawk for swim meet season.

I ordered multiple sizes on Amazon, picked the one that fit best, and returned the rest.

in my experience, they run true to size. I bought two sizes bigger so it rest comfortably on my dome. I didnt like it snug like a ball cap.
