Any feedback on them? I am looking to get a cheap over & under for skeet/sporting clays and dove hunting. I know they are a cheap Beretta knock off, but I want to hear some honest opinions.
We both like them. Not an great gun, but goes bang, hits targets and you don't mind it getting dinged up.
ETA: I added a pad to stock as mentioned below. It's a bit light and standard stock kick got annoying. Pad helped with control and being able to spend more time pulling trigger.
I have a deluxe model with nicer wood in 20 gauge. I love it for dove and clays. It is a little light on weight and has a little recoil as a result, but I don't have a pad on it either. No issues at all.
I have the 12 o/u Texas edition (engraved Alamo and Texas Star). Nice gun for the money. I like it, and first time I used it I shot better with it than I do with my Remington 11-87 I've had forever.
Edit to say I agree with munch above. Action is pretty stiff, but I don't have many rounds through it yet.
Yildiz is not even close to a knock off of a Beretta. If that's what you're looking for, then a Weatherby Orion is your best bet. It's a few bucks more, but also a much nicer gun that's still inexpensive enough to use in the field without worrying about banging it up
I have two 20s (one is a youth model). We love them. They were pretty stiff out of the box, but were much better after about 60 or so shells went through them
I had a stock crack on me. But the service was outstanding. They replaced it with a new one immediately.
As with most negative "reviews" 99% of them have had no direct experience with the item In question. You can't completely dismiss it but you have to take that into account as well.
I have a 12ga Yildoz O/U that I'd be willing to part with. It's a beautiful gin, I went through the 5 or 6 boxes they had at academy and picked the prettiest stock. Iwill say that some shells have an issue with not ejecting. I've had pretty good luck with federal but not so much other shells. I'm also in DFW, but I'm down in Houston for work once or twice a month on average.
I'm really looking for a 20 I think. I've already got a real nice older Beretta 12 semi auto and an a300 12 for duck hunting. Not sure what I would use an over and under 12 for.
Gotta have a kick pad on them. . I literally opened and closed mine 20 to 50 times every time I thought of it when I would go by the gun stand in my closet to loosen it up. After several weeks It now opens and closes like my Citoris and is a good shooter.
We got my dad the 699 o/u model from Academy last fall, and overall have been very impressed with it. He is just getting into sporting clays and has been perfect for that. His friends that he shoots with, who have $$$$ guns all thought it was a great starter gun, and a lot of gun for the money. Definitely get one of the models with a steel receiver- the models that end with "s
