Looking for recommendations for all day blue water fishing trip in the Gulf.
I have been out of LA before.
Was going to take a Viking Cruise in Europe this spring for 50th birthday, but canceled due to COVID restrictions and current war. So I'm going fishing instead.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For the price of a European cruise (especially if it was a river cruise), you could afford to go offshore every day this summer in the gulf. Just start picking charters and go for it.

Seriously, I have only used Action Charters out of Freeport and have always had a great time and caught lots of fish every time. Used to use Captain Elliott's but sadly they are no longer open.

Save time and money and go to Venice la or Costa Rica. Texas is rough- it can be done but is tough

Thanks for the Recs. I'll look into those.
I've been out of Port Fourchon in LA before and had great trips but don't have any contacts down there now.
Would love to do Costs Rica one day. Definitely on the bucket list.

Is TX fishing that much worse? Been a handful of times to LA and it was good. Can go either way, wherever the fishing is better.

Yes, it's that much better imo, especially in the offshore world in Venice. Go catch some very nice YF, maybe have a shot at a billfish, and if you want swords, there are captains that specialize in that too. Get you a group together and go stay on a houseboat in the harbor, or one of the condos or lodges on the water. It is the end of the world and not for everyone, but for a fisherman, probably no where i'd rather be. I spend a few weeks down there each year, so i'm biased, and most of my fishing is done inshore, but I always spend a couple days offshore and I just cant see anyone not having a great time and potentially the trip of a lifetime. TX born and raised, and do most of my fishing here, so not just trying to push you to LA, I love fishing here also.

Small world. I live in Carthage and work in Longview. I have a trip planned with some friends to go to Grand Isle LA this summer on an off shore trip. Same group that went to Port A last year. We decided on LA this year because we want to try for tuna

Mexican Gulf Fishing runs the newest stuff and has the best social media presence.

They also catch a lot of fish.

We went with Fish Venice Charters and had a blast.
