Everyone I have seen or shot my self has been off hand or leaning on a person, tree or bag. Out to 350 yards.
I carried a simple cabelas monopod on my 1st hunt a couple of years ago - the only elk I saw was at 400+ and I'm not ashamed to admit that I couldn't get it steady enough without something solid for a 2nd anchor point to brace it against. I wouldn't have taken the shot even if I had had a bigger window of opportunity because it was too unsteady.
The versatility of the hatch or atlas looks interesting. I like the idea of it being attachable quickly and not being a permanent mount
