The Clark Fork Facebook page was real quick to jump on recent transplants to the area but the lady who was interviewed by, and whose yard they died in, said she knows several of her neighbors that have lived there their entire lives are feeding. As much as everyone likes to bag on the new people out here, the lifelong residents can get a sense of entitlement over stuff line this.

Montana doesn't do everything right, but they do ticket for feeding wildlife.

Never realized if deer ate too much corn it could result in a negative outcome.

Is this only true in harsh climates? Cause obviously hunters feed daily thru February down here.

Yep. Deer can founder if they over eat. Its rare but it can happen.

Corn is generally lower in protein than most of what deer would otherwise eat. So if you feed them so much corn that they don't eat any of their normal forage, they end up in worse condition than they would otherwise be. If you feed them enough to supplement their normal forage, without replacing it entirely, you won't have that issue. Or better yet, feed a higher protein blend that will enhance their diet instead of hurting it like plain corn does.
