If you were wanting a 1911, would you pick one of these? I can't decide if I love or hate the 2 tone.

I'm a sucker for two-tone with wood grips. Have a Springfield Ronin and Sig P238 both in that combo.

I bought a Kimber Nightstar off Gunbroker for considerably less than those three.

Save your money, buy a Dan Wesson

The night patrol is appealing.

I won the Kimber Custom two tone at a banquet. Pretty gun.
I wouldn't pay retail for one but I'm glad I have it.

If I'm looking for a flashy 1911 I buy a Kimber. I get that gun snobs turn their nose up to them, but they have been great to me. Also like my Ronin for daily carry and my double stack 10mm Rock Island for hunting.

Dan Wesson is the best thing on the market unless you really step up and buy Ed Brown, Night Hawk, or Wilson.

My favorite is Ed Brown. They are addictive.

I have a few Kimbers and all shoot well. My Desert Warrior is very accurate yielding a near perfect score on my CHL shooting test. I have Eclipses in both 45 and 10mm and are great looking pistols. Good luck with your choice. For the money, they are great pistols.

My Kimber has the bad habit of inconsistently locking back before the magazine is empty. Love how it feels and shoots though

My advice is your going to pay for a custom 1911 then as a former Marine, I'd be getting a Nighthawk Custom 1911.

Last ten years or so have tarnished that somewhat I think for many people. Lots of issues.

I have two, including a custom shop one, that have had several issues. Had to send the custom back twice and still not happy with it but tired of dealing with it at this point. Both were north of $1200 and they just simply weren't worth that price when a bit more will get you into Dan Wesson territory which are fantastic out of the box.

Kimbers can give mixed results - especially in their smaller 1911s.

I have owned one, and I wasn't too happy with it.

I was in Champion Firearms about a week ago, and someone was looking at 1911s. I heard one of the gun shop employees telling the customer that Kimbers only come with a 1 year warranty. And, he has seen people get right past the 1 year and have an issue. And, then Kimber apparently charges for the repair...

I will say that I'm on just about every gun forum known to man, and I've seen a lot of Kimber Complaints. I have owned 5 or 6 Springfields over the years. And, I've had pretty good luck with them. But, as others have said - go with Dan Wesson. Nicest normal production 1911 there is. I've owned a couple of those. Short of an Ed Brown, I like the Dan Wessons the best in this price range

In my experience the issue with recent years of Kimber is that their QC has been hit or miss. So paying Springfield+ prices for Taurus level QC is not ideal. Recommend paying for better guaranteed quality.

I've got an older Kimber 1911 with the logo cut instead of stamped. That gun will rock the party.

Singer sewing machine 1911. They were so well built, military had them make more critical things so small number were built. Honus Wagner of handguns.

For the same budget as the three options posted, consider a Springfield Ronin or Garrison. Another option is BUL Armory. Their aesthetic is different, but they put out pistols that run reliably and are very well-built for the price.

In the current market there aren't many new options until you get into the $1300+ range of Dan Wesson and even those are hard to find right now. Colt Wiley Clapp would have been a great answer two years ago, but those are $1500 now instead of $1k and you are overpaying at that price.

I'm not hating on Kimber, FYI. I had a Kimber TLE for several years and ran 3000+ rounds through it with the only two FTFs ever being cheap aluminum cased ammo. The issue is lower resale, poor warranty, and that you can do better on quality for the same dollars.

Champion used to carry them, but not for a few years. Maybe they can order you one. I don't know.

I know Adelbridge and Co in San Antonio carries Dan Wesson. They have huge gun inventory, and took over an old Pier One building on San Pedro, by the mall. When you first walk in the door and look at all the guns - it's like "wow."
