Any recommendations where to take one around Houston or college station to get one tanned?

Ship your deer hide to North Texas Tannery in Denton. Prices can't be beat and quality is excellent.

The phone number is on their FB page. Text the number ahead of time to let them know what you have and you'll get a quick response.

Double wrap your frozen hide in a plastic trash bags, box them and then ship ground on a Monday. They'll get the hide on Tuesday or Wednesday, still frozen.

Six or eight months later you'll get a text stating that your hides are on the way to your door.

More than likely, any taxidermist in Htown or BCS that takes your hide is going to ship it off to a tannery anyway.

I used to recommend the Nugget Company in SA but their prices have gone through the roof.

I sent an axis to NTT in November. I think it was $75. He said that turnaround was about eight months at the time. He tans capes for many taxidermists so I bet it he is more backed up at this point.

He has done several elk hides for me and I'm always pleased with the work.

I have a bunch of problem beavers I need to take care of. Don't see that on their price list. I wonder what they charge for that.

Most of the time I've gotten into some beaver it's been charged by the hour

NTT won't do furbearers. I wanted to send a bobcat with the axis but he wouldn't take it. Buy the hide tanning formula and do it yourself. It's pretty easy.

North Texas doesn't take bobcats anymore?

My FIL got one done by him and so did a buddy.

I've had several deer hides tanned and have had great results.

Don't mean to derail thread ----
I am having some domestic Dorper lambs butchered at the end of March. I am getting told by taxidermists I have contacted that they would ship them to a tannery and it would be $250.00 to $300.00 per animal.

That is twice the cost of tanning a game animal hide, from my investigation. Any ideas why? Any suggestions?
