I vacuum seal and freeze a lot of meat and game, both before and after cooking. I have a FoodSaver sealer, but I find with meats that are really juicy, even on the moist setting the seal is not complete and air gets into the bag, leading to freezer burn. Anyone else have this problem and how do you solve it? Alternative, what sealer do you use and does it eliminate this problem?

Weston 2300 I've had it for a year and been very happy with it.

On Amazon for over $400? Is it worth that kind of money?

We bought a chamber vacuum. VacMaster VP215.

Very Expensive but easy to vacuum seal liquids like soups.
You can even use mason jars and their lids to vacuum seal items in the jar like spices and dried tomatoes.

We live 30 minutes from town so no quick trips to the grocery store or dining out.
Often cook up large large portions like pulled pork or potato soup and freeze vacuum sealed bags with two servings for my wife and I.

Also we have a very large garden and fruit orchard. Most is glass jar canned but some is dried and vacuum sealed or blanched and vacuum sealed.

anything you dont like about the chamber sealer you have? How long have you had it? I've actually seen some for sale that were $300 and some that were $3000. I dont want to spend a couple hundred buck and get a piece of crap and dont have an extra 3K laying around to get the expensive one. Between me and my parents we put up about 8-10 deer a year as well as a couple hundred pounds of catfish so I having one of these would be a game changer

We have the one from Bass Pro and it started doing the same.....ended up that the sealing element had burnt in two. Got the following from amazon and were back in business

As someone who processes 13-15 deer a year on top of vac sealing briskets and ribeyes when I find a sale, and who has chewed through 3 foodsavers that didn't get the job done, yes. But I use it alot and she's a bad b****. Depends on how much you use it and how long you want the meat to be good, but I'm very happy with mine.

Dislikes:
Chamber Vacuum is very heavy and takes up a lot of counter space.
It has a hinged top opening lid so that can be problem potentially if under a low cabinet.
It is expensive
It is utilizes oil so it has to be checked in a bullseye sightless.

Likes:
Since it draws vacuum on a chamber, it will seal bags of liquids like soup.
Soups, stews, chicken spaghetti, chopped BBQ meat, chili, beans, etc are our go-to "fast foods" from the freezer living out in the country. Drop the bag in a pot of boiling water and let it heat up.
We very seldom eat fast food.

Bags are cheap, that's a huge plus. I buy various sizes in bulk online-you don't have to make your own out of a roll so it's quick and easy.
Easily seals glass jars-we dry and save our own herbs like basil.
Double seals each bag so bag seal failures aren't a worry.
Chamber is much simpler and easier to clean than a Food Saver but we almost never have to clean it unless I spill something into it.

I had a food saver type from Bass Pro , a Silver model, that was heavy duty and lasted a long time. We literally wore it out putting up our own vegetables and fish.
I knew we would use the Chamber Vac almost daily-it's a Cadillac compared to the Food Saver style.

With as much deer and fish as you preserve, I would strongly consider getting a chamber vac and a selection of the bags.
