I have a pit barrel cooker and love it. Recommend as a good inexpensive and quality cooker. Can't do everything but it works for what I need

Joining the crowd with a new PK Grill. Just set up today. Probably using for first time on Monday. Haven't used charcoal in over a decade so will be a bit of trial and error but looking forward to being able to grill and smoke.

So I have used my grill once and enjoyed it but with cooler weather / football nearing I am about to gear up and coming from propane world I have a few charcoal questions....

1) For slow cook / smoking....do you all use a Chimney Starter or do you find it gets the coals too hot too quick? Is it just a "manage" situation and ensure dump out before they get too hot / white?

2) For starting, in addition to the Chimney...do you all have any thoughts on the "Tumbleweeds" vs the Weber white starter cubes? I don't get a daily / weekly newspaper so I dont honestly have a lot of good starters from around the house.

Thanks!!!
