Here is what I will add to this. I feed (bait). I imagine if you fish you use bait. Never mind, I bet you don't fish either.

Now as far as what I enjoy about it: it allows me to teach my kids how to hunt, respect, understand nature at its best, understand the importance of shot placement, controlled breathing, etc. AND keep them interested all at the same time. Do I personally do it without kids? No. Does my 16 year old now hunt like I do? Yes and loves it. Does my 8 yr old? No. He still has a lot to learn and there is no better place to do it than in a blind amongst them.

Not hunters.

Good on you for moving on, but really what a strange flex. Hunters calling out other hunters for what qualifies as a sporting hunt. Last I checked deer are pretty defenseless, so if you are stalking them with a bow much less a gun you have the advantage all you need is patience and the wind in your favor.

I have always hunted for meat and not sport so however it gets in the freezer is fine by me. My wife and 11 year old hunt from a blind, venison taste the same to me regardless.

Hunting / Shooting over baited plots v non baited land is an interesting argument. Many benefits to "baiting" such as population control and aids in maintaining the overall health of the heard just name a quick few. Hunting in the true sense of the word it is not.

Should one look down his nose at one practicing legal methods of harvesting venison in a given region…, go ahead if that is your thing.

I am blessed by being able to participate in more truer hunting methods such as stalking, tracking, rattling on large open ranch lands in South Dakota as well doing my duty as a law abiding humane participant, helping control the health and population in the great state of Texas.
Oh, a good way to get shot in the state of texas by another inexperienced hunter is simply trying to use truer hunting tactics such as stalking. Too many high powered rifles in the hands of individuals, in a given concentrated area that lacks the experience really needed for an overall safe experience.

Much safer to have everyone stay put in an "assigned " area.

How about "harvesting "? Can we agree that this is a more appropriate way to describe the acquisition methods of white tail in Texas?
Whatever you want to call it, i immensely enjoy being out in the woods and observing nature.

Happy Hunting/Harvesting

So should my dad buy buccees corn or not? It's just for putting in the backyard for neighborhood deer. Not hunting or raising deer.

Those of you who have never successfully grown history with a buck, watching him grow to a ripe old age, and then tried to outsmart him just trying to catch a glimpse of him once he is five years or older, need to keep your mouth shut in regards to hunting. Old mature low fence deer don't just walk out everyday to a feeder.

What an odd thread. Also, I love seeing guys get their panties twisted when someone calls out their way of hunting.

Who buys meat at a grocery store that someone else butchered?

Not real carnivores.
Thats still eating meat. We're talking about hunting. Might as well raise deer, feed them out of the palm of your hand and then pop them once they get big enough.

I didn't realize it was that simple.
And here I am wasting countless hours waiting for that big buck that feeds on my corn nocturnally. The one I might catch a fleeting glimpse of for 3 seconds out of the whole season.
All this time I could have just raised him and popped him in the head.
Thanks for enlightening me.
