1) anybody try the electronic filing?

2) what are all the steps that needs to be done?

3) anybody have a Q thunder chicken?

Basically my dad wants to get a can we can all use. The rifles are a 6.5 Grendel, a .243, and 2x 300 win mags. I know there's going to be some POI shift but my BIL can't shoot MOA in the first place

We are also considering getting a .22 rimfire can for the kids to use

1. Only do e-file. I also suggest a trust
2. Create Trust, buy can from retail store and they will submit trust and Form 4 with you. Wait long time. Very long time
3. Or create trust, buy Form 1 kit. Submit Form 1 efile. Get both back in less than 30 days. Drill some holes and go shoot
4. Get a .30 cal can. Your choice

Last comment. Don't get wrapped around the axle of who's can has the quietest claims. From a practical standpoint, all things equal, a few decibels is not enough to be noticed by ear. Ammo type, cloud cover, open/closed surrounding all play into how quiet your rifle sounds at that moment.

I would pay more for mounting type and weight. If I had a do-over on my first one it would be I bought the cheapest and it is long, heavy and direct thread…i still use the crap out of it, but have since replaced with shorter, lighter and faster to attach model(s). It's just toys at some point.

Eforms just went live today. Not sure exactly what that means in terms of the process, but it is up and running. Created my eform account his morning. I ordered two suppressors through silencer shop last week that will be submitted as eforms. It was much like ordering anything off a website. I used silencer shop because they have about 3000 "kiosks" at various gun shops across the country where you can do your electronic fingerprints(one of those happens to be at a local gun shop). I was able to enter all my info on their website they need for all the forms. Below is a link to their website that gives you an idea of what it takes. The process wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be.

It may be easier to do your trust for one person(yourself) when you purchase and add your relatives later. Something I'd ask about at least.

Silencer central is another big player.

Or as fido suggested using a local gun shop to help you through the process.

I've looked at the "1 shot" trust on silencer shop, but it appears to be good for 1 can per trust.

This seems pretty deep, I'll probably call a shop later

What's the difference between a 4 and a 1?

A 1 is a can you build and a 4 is one you purchased?

I can't get my registration to go through. It keeps saying registration incomplete. Not sure if the servers are overloaded or if I'm doing something wrong.

That one shot trust is $25. They also offer the unlimited use trust as well, but it's $129. So just depends what your needs are.

Not sure either. I did my registration then got a confirmation email with my user name and was able to use that to login.

Most folks get all wrapped up in suppression, but IMO, the can mounting solution is super important. I like TOMB style, and really really dig the conical taper to Thunderbeast's breaks and the Ultra line.

TOMB

is thread over muzzle break for anyone else not familiar

I'll just leave this here. You decide if Q is a brand to support. This isn't the first time.

The reason Q was interesting is a guy who has one said they were one of the few companies that if you had a baffle strike all the SN and info was at the back and the front could be cut off and rewelded

The local shop I stopped by yesterday seemed big on AB suppressors and they have the silencer shop kiosk

I have about 2,500 rounds through my thunder chicken combined on my .300 blk, .308 bolt, .556, & 6.8 spc and I could not be happier. Light, durable, & the best damn silencer mounting system out there. Get it.

I think the reason he was mad was his silencer didn't get a great rating from Pew Science (Aggie based on previous threads). I have no dog in this fight. People, including me, still buy Larue and that guy can have less than favorable responses too. Just thought I would share.

Thread on Pew and his comments:

I have a Q. Jumbo Shrimp because I love the 6.5G and I have a creedmoor as well. Can works incredibly well.

Whatever you get, make sure it's titanium to save weight. My other can is a Sig SRD762 with quick disconnect. It's noticeably heavier than my Q can.

Have had my Q Thunder Chicken for a few years now and it is absolutely fantastic for .300 blackout but very mediocre for .223.

I recently had a baffle strike on it which was totally my fault. Q took care of me and was extremely easy to work with on getting it repaired at zero cost. They even paid for shipping both ways.

Mind me asking how you got a baffle strike?

Great question bc the mounting system is pretty idiot proof. I'm setting up my M1A scout rifle to run suppressed and you to a buy thread adapter to mount the cherry bomb.

I'm assuming I ran into a tolerance stacking issues between the barrel, thread adapter, and cherry bomb.
It was just a small half moon end cap strike on the first shot. Gun is currently at the gunsmith seeing if we can get this setup to work.

What is the pitch of the m1a muzzle threads? Surprised you had to get a thread adapter?

The whole front of the rifle is a single piece (muzzle break and front sight) that attaches to the barrel with a castle nut and set screw. The thread pitch on the barrel is .595" - 32NS 3A

Standard right hand direct thread cans pretty easily walk off the shoulder of the barrel. That's why some guns use left hand threads. Makes it less likely for the can to walk off.

That's what happened to this one. The can wasn't tight to the shoulder.

Brittingham may (or may not) be the closest thing in modern times to Browning. It's still a bit early to tell as he's relatively young. He's a good designer with an eye for business and manufacturing.

I haven't got my hand on a fix yet but just seeing the videos it just amazes me that a bolt gun could be so modernized

So by owning a can, does that mean the ATF can demand to see it at any moment?

What do you keep on you to prove you are legit?

No... ATF can't come to your house and demand to see your paperwork and suppressor without a warrant, and if they're doing that, you have bigger issues. But, you do need to be able to produce your Form 4 or 1 to show law enforcement, if asked, the can is legal and registered in the NFRTR.

Only time I've ever found someone who wanted to look at my NFA paperwork was at indoor ranges who are trying to make sure "illegal" firearms aren't on their property.
