Is anyone aware of what they are dredging a channel for across the bay right now? Just went out to our place and saw them putting a channel what looks to be across pretty much just open bay off Beach City.

Almost looks like where the Intracoastal Waterway is…

The Intracoastal is a long ways from there.

This sounds right. Putting in a new channel would involve 10x the size equipment those boys are running.

Anybody ever hear about an underwater sinkhole somewhere in Trinity Bay?

Someone was telling me that a well collapsed or something like that and there was a random spot in Trinity that gets really deep. Anybody ever heard of this anomaly?

Ya…that's what "almost" means.

Almost implies proximity; Intracoastal is on the south side of Galveston Bay, not even the same bay.

There are a couple of spots but no clue how much deeper they actually are. Early attempts at offshore drilling. A lost circulation zone was hit and stuff went down. There are several places across Texas where similar things happened. I heard a story that outside of Luling (I think) there is an entire Frac spread that dropped 10'+ and was just abandoned in place.

I went and looked at a couple of charts. Didn't see anything deeper that 24 feet.

Looks right in the vicinity of Dow reef if your red marker is the location. We used to fish there in the mid 80s. It is very shallow shell patch similar to Hanna's Reef in East Bay. Maybe somebody cutting an access channel to get to one of the well pads out there from 5 mile cut so they can abandon the well or service it?
