1. My ARs bore me
2. I mostly shoot suppressed and DI doesn't work a good when dirty. I want a piston gun.
3. I'm Czech. I like Czech guns
4. I want a carbine, because it comes with the tactical Ugg buttstock. I'll change barrels later if I SBR.
5. I have 5.56 ammo but never use it because it's my least favorite AR (see #1 above).

Tell me why I shouldn't just go get the Bren 2 MS carbine. Is there a better piston rifle in 5.56 like the HK SL8 that's not a standard AR platform. Yes the FN Scar is on my list but can't see how the.Bren is not a cheaper version

I was looking at one a few weeks ago. I couldn't get myself to come around on the plastic lower. Maybe I was just being picky though.

I've got a Bren 2 in 7.62x39 w 9 inch barrel. Run it suppressed 100% of the time. Love it. Check out some of the upgrades offered by HBI. No experience w it in .223/5.56.

I've been working for CZ for about 4 years now, so my opinion may be biased….. but I love the Bren 2, particularly the carbine variant. I've had (2) Carbines at this point and they both shoot really, really well. I prefer the recoil impulse to the Bren over the SCAR; the SCAR always felt "sluggish" to me.

My biggest and only complaint with the Bren 2 is that you have to be fairly picky about dots and optics. The charging handle rides very close to the rail, so bigger dots like the EOTech and Aimpoint Pro don't leave much room to manipulate the charging handle. (The Pro would work if you move the charging handle to the right side).

So, in closing, you should definitely get one!

Agree w this comment. I put a Holosun on mine. Other nice feature is that the charging handle can be swapped to L or R side.

Quick derail, but what do you do for them if ya don't mind answering? Very curious as I am looking at the job market soon and always wondered what the process was for the big gun companies were.

I'm on the sales side, so long story short, I take care of all the CZ dealers down south. No bearing on the review of the gun in question, I do really like it

You might already know this, but if you like that carbine buttstock look, you do have 2 other options:

1) Get a pistol, SBR it, and add the Dan Haga ACR adapter and an ACR stock

2) Get a pistol, Bren 2 carbine stock, and retrofit it into a brace with the Dan Haga tailhook adapter (who knows how long this might remain legal).

An 11" SBR with a folding ACR stock is the best configuration IMO in 5.56 - especially if you'll be shooting suppressed.

I was thinking 14" pistol to SBR might be true perfect combo, but see the 11" working too.

How do we pressure you to introduce a 300BlK option??

Based off the sales history of the 805 Bren we did in blackout, your chances aren't real good!

I think it was Matt Hopkins (who works for CZ-USA) that mentioned it on a podcast I was listening to, I forget which and when it was, but the problem has been getting the necessary parts. May not remember correctly though.

There was a part in the fire control group that we outsourced to a local machine/fab shop in Norwich. Well, when COVID **** down the whole state of NY, they closed the machine shop (in addition to Dan Wesson). When they allowed business to open back up, the machine shop decided to remain close permanently. So we are missing the crucial part and we're tasked with "developing" it ourselves.

No units have shipped to date. The compact model will be the first and I'm hoping it will be by the end of the year. But I've said that about three times already too!

Interesting. It seems the internet thinks CZ never provided a full release. Just a tease at a Shot Show….typical Vegas! Is this a case of chicken & egg??

I got to handle one at shot show 2020 I believe.

Good to know there's some progress. I'd love to have a crack at one of the first.

Will CZ-USA building the factory in Arkansas alleviate any of this or will Colt's acquisition play into this? I have a couple of DW (Specialist and PM-45) and they're high quality. Hoping some of that QC filters down into Colt.

I couldn't figure why the TexAgs filters put ***^ in your post. When I hit the quote button, I found that you had fat fingered an i instead of a u in "shut ".
JBOYD05

At first, no. Dan Wesson still has a few years left on their lease in Norwich. I've never been, but apparently that whole town revolves around the factory there and without it the town will just die. I've heard the same goes for Yonkers and Kimber, just FYI. They are allocating DW space in the new facility, but it won't be immediately occupied as they have to ride out their commitments to the city. Hopefully it will alleviate a little of the CZ supply issues if they ever get the damn thing built!

As far as Colt goes, I get this ALL THE TIME! Colt was bought by CZG, not CZ-USA. CZG is the company that owns the Czech factory, CZ-USA, Dan Wesson…. They bought Colt to gain the Canadian marketplace. It had very little to do with the US. CZ-USA, and subsequently Dan Wesson, will have nothing to do with Colt for the foreseeable future. The whole acquisition was to gain some market share in Canada without establishing a CZ-Canada. Plus, Colt is strong up there with their contracts, so it was an easy choice for them.

Trying to determine how the the Europeans are going to do something is an exercise in futility. I can't figure them out or pronounce their names. CZG bought Spuhr recently and I was really excited to absorb that, but they left it separate from CZ-USA/Dan Wesson. Go figure.

If your still looking and serious...I have a 14" pistol in 5.56 I think I want to sell so I can get the 11" and turn it into an SBR. A year ago or so I could never find the 11" but have seen them around lately. I've got a bunch of HBI accessories on it including the hand guard. I'm in Austin.

As our resident CZ rep, can you let us know when we can expect to see the CZ 600 models on the shelf?

I think I decided to put all my Christmas money toward the 600 Trail in 7.62x39.

Late first quarter to early second quarter is the tentative timeline. I've had that 600 Trail in 7.62x39 on order since April of this year when we first handled them…. It's been a long wait!

Thanks. Is the gun industry subject to supply chain constraints? Or is CZ slammed with military contracts?
