I know someone has done the math. If I have my feeder set to throw corn for a total of 14 seconds in one day how long will it last until it's empty if it's a total of 300lbs and let's just say a normal amount it's spitting out each cycle?

When it runs out of corn.

Still a lot of variables. Is any getting lost to coons? How far is spinner plate from feeder, etc.

Why not catch and weigh one throw, then do the math?

6 seconds in the morning and 8 in the afternoon. It's not that much at all based on how much I'm allowing out.

Depends on the feeder. AS or Sweeney at 14 seconds will last about 2 weeks. A Moultrie 6V would be a month or so.

To do the math you need to find out how much corn is getting thrown each day, not how long the feeder goes off each time. I have 3 different feeders and spin plates. They each throw different amounts. They all get filled at same time but one runs out several days before the other two

My feeder motor has a sticker on it that shows how many lbs gets distributed for each second of run time. You need to know that in order to do the math.
I want to let it run and collect the corn in a bucket and weigh it to confirm their estimate.

You can probably look up your feeder type online and get that info.

A 300lb feeder lasting about 4-6 weeks is what I try to accomplish. Now that I have a 600lb, 2 months is the expectation.

Every feeder is different… even with the same feeder type, spinner plate, and motor, you'll still have some variation due to the distance from the spinner plate. If you have a spin tech feeder, it seems like you need to run those things like a million seconds to empty a feeder in less than 3 months.

My motor has a high, medium and low RPM, I choose low so it doesn't scatter to the ends of the earth!

My 300lbs lasts probably 8 weeks or more. 4 seconds per throw, one throw M, W,F, S, S mornings and one throw Friday and Saturday evening.

My deer don't come to a feeder on schedule, so its more of just keeping corn on the ground to keep them in the area, and not throw too much to make pigs decide to take up full time residence!!

if you were really excited about it i would put a 5 gallon bucket underneath the spinplate and run the motor and weigh the corn. does this about 5 times and average the number

this should give you a rough idea of corn dispensed per feeding then divide it by the number of pounds the feeder holds

Using The Timer and a 12V motor, 5 seconds a throw, twice a day is about a 50lb sack a week on my feeders.

Next time you fill the feeder up, shove a 5 gallon bucket under the spinner and see how much you collect.

Not all spinner plates are at the same height or operate at the same speed as earlier mentioned.

If you are that worried about it you are either:
1) Not filling your feeder up all the way,
2) Not going hunting often enough, or
3) Need to upgrade from your 5 gallon hanging feeder to something that holds at least 250lbs
