These have proved impossible to find. I know people with the Fulton ones and they seem to work ok, but just got off the phone with them and they are backordered until April of next year. I would really like to get my boat in the garage. Any ideas to alternate brands? Is this something a metal shop could fab and still be safe?

All's ya need do is drill some holes in the tongue, cut it in two, and install the hinge.

I can do the install on either a bolt or weld version. They just aren't in stock. I have to have a 3x3 and I talked direct to Fulton. They are backordered until Q2 2022. I went through placing orders with 2 different drop shippers who showed stock but ended up being out.

I have a solid alumni's tongue on mine. I took it to a fabricator and had them cut the tongue, weld a male aluminum insert, drill holes through the insert and tongue, used trailer pins to go in the holes. Works like a charm and I just completely remove the coupler portion of the tongue when not in use.

Cool. I'll have to call around. I was kinda thinking down those lines, just didn't know how legit it would be. What do you do with your wires?

It's only a 16' aluminum tiller steer so not a lot of weight.

Just cut the back part of the tongue (boat side) off and re-bolt it to the frame. Done.

Swinger fold away hinge kit on eBay

I bought one of these about a month ago but haven't installed it just yet. Found a rec for this brand after reading about several failures with the Fulton brand. Those failures are probably the reason that you can't find any right now. But the Swinger I bought is a beast. Very well made.
