Was wondering if the tire had actually saved him from lion attacks, but doubtful since I suspect that lions rarely take on adult bulls.

I have heard that the big bulls and big bucks are killed by lions bc they can hang on to the antlers with their front legs and bite their neck until they are done. How true that is, I don't know, but I've heard that from a couple different guys that know their stuff.
