I know there have been discussions about Golden breeders on here before, but my TexAgs search-foo is not paying off. We lost Bounder about a year ago and agree it's time to get another pup. I'm a self-admitted Golden Retriever snob - I've had three Goldens across the years and my life is significantly better for it.

We're in Central Texas, but appreciate any and all recommendations. Not looking for a hunting dog; more of a companion.

I wouldn't trade my golden for anything. And I can vouch for John Wayne being as bad-ass as he is photogenic as well! Also, for the OP, Theta-fest on November 5th in BCS will have a great Golden Retriever puppy in their Auction for someone to take home. Maybe you could win it? All proceeds benefit the Brazos Valley Children's Advocacy Center. (If not, maybe I could get you the breeder's info?)

Goldens are one of the best family dogs there is. We are on our third and three of my kids have them as well

So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

We picked up our new knucklehead about 10 days ago. Make sure you have your big boy wallet ready. Goldens aren't cheap right now.

Ponderay Goldens. I think they just moved to Idaho from Wyoming. Excellent dogs. Looks like they have new studs, but I went with her over Katian Kennel. She impressed me more and didnt have a year long wait (still was several months though).

Tracey Garner in Edom. We just picked up our 3rd Golden. Our first is still here at 13. She raises show dogs. Not a breeder just looking for fast $$. She. Is. Awesome. And so are her dogs!

I second Katian kennels. Gus has been the best dog I've ever had. Katie can be difficult to get a hold of but worth the extra effort.

Best dogs ever. We have a 7 year old named Murphy. Be ready for some shedding of lots of magic fibers. To me it is worth it to sweep twice daily to have the best dog in the world. The amount of love and loyalty they provide is absolutely amazing.

Tracy Garner at Heartlight Goldens in Edom, TX. Last I heard though she was only going to be breeding for a few more years. I know several others that have one of her dogs and they are all amazing dogs

Is the hair and shedding as bad as some say? We have a lab right now and he sheds pretty good. Are Goldens much worse ?

Buy a roomba and run it daily. We do and just brush ours once a week or so and it's not too horrible. Definitely noticeable though. But you'd expect that from a long haired dog anyways, no matter the breed.

Yes, lol especially with two like we have. It's bad, but for us it's absolutely worth it
