Not if you want the best advice on the planet. And some good natured ribbing…

Fire away then.

Currently in the design process of replacing a deck with a paver patio. Trying to figure out the best way of making the transition from the house to the patio more smooth than just having 3 steps. It's about a 3' drop from the door to the ground. ideas or pictures greatly appreciated. We are looking to stay around 50-60k for the outdoor kitchen/patio including a gable style roof.

Do you still have your Berner?

(Tried sending you a PM, but I don't think you can accept PMs anymore.)

Are you accessing from a single door or a double or sliding door? Depending on situation steps in front of one door and ramp in front of the other might work. But would be a steep ramp. Or go with wide rounded steps, Would extend further into the patio area, but would be a bit more dramatic.

Can you elevate the patio level with a short retaining wall and soil fill? Then you would need to transition from the patio to the yard with steps, but might be an option to consider.

I hope you have a great base under your pavers. Out place had a brick patio when moved in. I hate it. It's getting uneven in places and you can't really walk on it barefooted.

I like the idea of building it up and having the steps down to the yard. You don't have to build it all the way up, but try to get it within one step.

If you don't do this, the patio is 18-20 inches lower than the house. If you go ground level, will the ceiling of the patio be at 11 ft or will the patio ceiling look really low from inside the house? One of these has to be true because of the different levels. Just a thought.

Also, have you considered stamped concrete or are you set on pavers?
