For all of those that weren't able to make it. A lot of folks stood up and spoke at the funeral including former students and Marines. His wife, mother and brother also spoke. Very emotional time for everyone.

Then a bunch of us moved over to the Flying Saucer and proceeded to celebrate Chris's life.....loudly. Then the game came on and we got louder. Other SEC fans even joined us, Chris would have been right at home.

Nice.

Some of our group drove all night from Corpus, San Antonio and Midland, then carpooled from Dallas. They came to our room to change and visit a bit. We went to the visitation/funeral, visted with Raj, his folks, and Aparna for a bit. Then went and had a nice lunch, followed by a side trip to a cigar store. Back to the room for comfortable clothes and a bottle of bourbon, then headed down to courtyard. Burned some sticks, consumed some "brown water", relived a lot of memories and caught up on the lives still going on.

Then they got on the road to head back, and I kept them updated on the game until they could find it on the radio.

These are friends I've had for 20+ years. Were it not for Chris, our paths would never have crossed and I am both grateful and eternally in his debt for him doing nothing more than being Chris.
