Considering picking up a smaller gun for EDC.

What do you guys think of these two as compared to each other?

I have all the models of both guns and carry them for different occasions.

Hellcat RDP is my main carry due to ergonomics and capacity at 15+1 in an OWB.

Hellcat no optic for tighter concealment IWB.

P365x with optic replaces my Hellcat RDP when I want a shorter slide for appendix carry.

P365 SAS for bag or pocket carry in a jacket since it's shaved.

P365xl doesn't get carried much since it's the same size as my RDP and I hate their extended magazines.

Hellcat OSP was replaced by the RDP in daily carry since the Wasp optic is far better vs the Shield

I held both about 2 weeks ago, and in terms of envelope they're almost identical. But for my rather large hands, the Sig felt better, so I'll be (most likely) getting the 365 SAS.

I really think it's going to be what's most comfortable for you. Both get really good reviews. I have a 365XL that splits time with a CZ as my EDC.

I love my 365XL. Mine has the safety. Very impressed with the night sights and overall finish that comes standard.

I'm sure I will get bashed a few times, but the Taurus GX4 is a possible addition to my daily carry. I only have a couple hundred rounds through it, but I find the trigger to be better than the Hellcat and 365. The ergonomics are actually pretty good and the price is almost half. My main gripe is that the internal components are stamped vs machined which is a given on a budget carry gun. Accuracy is similar and has had no issues feeding rounds from steel cased junk to Hornady defensive rounds.

FWIW, no personal experience but Kimber has the new "Mako" out that is supposed to be in the same realm as these two.

both are great.

fwiw i carry a 365 SaS but you're going to have to Drill with it to get used to the sights. there is definitely a learning curve

I carry a 365 daily but have heard good things about the Shield Plus. You might want to check it out in addition to the two you mentioned. Find a range that rents all three. Shoot them and then decide. What works for one person doesn't for others.

Ha. No, carrying different handguns is a large part of my job. Hell I carried a Judge for an entire month. That was not fun.

I have a Hellcat, not the OSP or RDP models. Big factor is n my case was the sight picture with the factory iron sights.

Smaller guns are a bit snappy, but love how quickly I can get back on target for follow up shots with the Hellcat sights. Plus, it cycles everything without fail.

I'd recommend getting your hands on both and holding them, they will fit your hand differently than any of ours.

I was wanting a smaller carry pistol with a higher capacity and tried both (and a couple others) and found that the Hellcat felt better in my hands so that's what I went with, but both are solid pistols.

I shot the Sig, liked it, bought it. Couldn't find a Hellcat to try, but it was on my list. I like the thumb safety on the Sig.

Have a 365 with red dot and safety and love it. Never tried the Hellcat.

Thanks fellas. Surprised nobody came back with "Why not both", which of course is the correct answer.

I know the range I use has both in stock and will allow you to shoot both of them first, so I think I will do that.

Another vote for Hellcat.
I tried both before purchase of the Hellcat.
The Sig 365's dry fire trigger felt better, but during actual live fire they were both great.
The front sight of the Hellcat is much more visible, and I personally like the Hellcat's U-notch rear sight (it is very functional but allows more focus on the front sight). Plus the Hellcat has a slightly larger capacity within the same dimensions.

I have had both for 6-8 months. Still not sure which one I like the best. Dead heat!

Ended up going with the Sig.

Test fired both and I gotta say, there ain't much difference that I could discern.

Hellcat was maybe a slight bit snappier.

Sig trigger felt a bit smoother to me.

Sig barrel is just a hair shorter and the gun a hair smaller overall. Not much, but since this will be my EDC and concealed in an appendix carry position, that won out.

Don't think you could go wrong with either, really. Both are impressive guns considering their size.
