Has anybody tried these guys?

https://www.kynshot.com/

I have the JP captured spring in my main AR and like it. It does what it advertises. Its not night and day better but it is better. Curious if the Kynshot is similar worse or better than the JP.

I'm sorry - recoil reduction in an AR? Does not compute.

Aside from things like a .450 Bushmaster.....AR's don't have enough recoil to really warrant expensive reduction systems to me at all.

If you shoot 3 Gun you want every little advantage possible.

Which is why I am asking.

Plus I like spending money on gadgets.

Nothing wrong with spending money on gadgets.

But you can do as well on recoil reduction IMO with a good brake as you can with some contraption in the stock. I'm betting your JP Silent Capture is about as good as it gets, they have the reputation they do for a reason - they make high quality and very functional stuff.

This was a club match from a month ago I shot. Even if it only gave me one second I would be interested.

I haven't seen the importance of messing with the buffer system on an AR. There is enough gas coming out to tune a good muzzle brake to have almost no recoil. When I tune my brake I shoot offhand at 100 yards, if the recoil makes my gun move off the target I drill a small hole before the first chamber of the brake on that side. Not all muzzle brakes have an area you can do that, be careful not to drill into the barrel itself. Usually it takes ~1/8" hole on the right side of the brake to get it where I want it.

Many will talk about lightweight BCG's, messing with buffers and adjustable gas blocks. I have my gas turned down just a bit, there is still plenty of gas to cycle even when dirty. I use a full weight BCG and standard rifle buffer I can do a controlled pair offhand at 100 yards. I value reliability above all else and I see negligible benefit in adjusting anything but the brake.

Buffer in a PCC is a different story. Those are blowback systems and the pistol caliber does not have nearly has much gas to work the brake.

Muzzle brake, H3 buffer, or tweak the gas settings...

JP capture spring is okay from what i've seen and shot but it works better with an adjustable gas block.

I might have to take a crack at drilling on my brake. When I added the JP brake it calmed the rifle rise down a lot but not completely.

Just don't use a harbor freight drill bit on a titanium brake. Took me 4 days and I tried 10 different things to back it out/destroy it. A carbide bit finally worked to break down the drill bit.

Yep. For Ti you need carbide or cobalt, 135 degree tip, pressure and a coolant (oil, water, cutting fluid, atifreeze, etc.). If you aren't getting chips, you don't have enough pressure on your bit. Ti will work harden with heat, so if you aren't getting chips or curls, you need to apply more pressure or your bit has burned up.

I appreciate that tip.

I was well aware it was a bad idea, but at worst I thought I'd just ruin the bit. I got most of the way through before the damn thing broke off. I do have cobalt drill bits now.

Kind of random.

I made some inert 12 G shells for practicing quad loading by taking some spent shells, filling them with hot glue and then cutting the flash off with a band saw.

Works great and better than trying to run and load with live shells. Or in my case walking in the garage.

I have a JP captured spring in one of my ARs. I don't know if it lessons recoil, maybe a bit. But it does make the rifle "feel" smoother and makes for a better "sound" when firing. Hard to put a finger on it but if you shot two identical ARs, you would slightly prefer the one with the JP captures spring slightly more. Does that make it worth the expense????
