I am trying to get an old pull type shredder on my newer tractor. I have a Case IH 55HP tractor. The drawbar is very thick. So, I can't figure out how to attach the pull type shredder to it. The drawbar hole is 1.25" and the shredder attachment holes are standard size like your see on a three point drawbar like the one sitting on the shredder. I can make this fit my other tractors but their bars are a bit different. The shredder hitch is far narrower than the tractor part. Shredder is an old Continental Belton, 6k' wide. Cuts like a champ with the 35 HP Massey but it does better on the 55HP.

How do I get these two married without wallowing out my tractor hitch or damaging something ??

I would take draw head off shredder (1 bolt)
Take it to machine shop have them cut, add width and weld back. Bolt up and go!

I had the same issue with my John Deere 6615 and pulling a mixer grinder. I used a bushing in my drawbar that matched the drop pin size on the mixer grinder. I actually found the bushing needed at tractor supply. I had to cut it with a chop saw to length to fit in the yoke of the grinder but that was easy. It never wallows my drawbar hole and have been pulling if for many years. The wear is on the bushing.

Both are options i can accomplish on my own. I just didn't know which way to go.

I think both options are what I need to do to make it work with this tractor. A bushing on the tractor bar and also make the shredder head wider. Otherwise I have to just set the shredder head on top of the tractor draw bar which I guess is ok. Not sure.

Ok I think I understand you....so your drawbar is thicker that the distance inside the yoke? If so I would not bolt it on top I would have the yolk made to slide over your drawbar and use the bushing and drop pin.

That's exactly the problem. On my Massey drawbar, I seems to have a "hammer strap". Not really sure how that's used or if it's useful here. Anyway, your suggestion is the right answer I think. I'll work on it.
