Ok, here's the story.
Had a guy walk in. Pretty thuggish. Actually fairly well spoken but still obviously from the hood. Still consider him a hood rat but in my area of Houston this isn't exactly uncommon.
HR: "Yo man, you got any Glocks?"
Me: "Yeah, 19, 19x, 17, 43, and 43x."
HR: "Dude, you don't got no Foties?"

Me: "No, this is what we have."
HR: "Well, how much fo' da 19 an' 43x?"
Me in my head: "I don't want to sell him anything so we'll just throw stupid numbers out."
Me: "$950 and $850."
HR: "Coo' I take em."

Me: "Ok, let's fill some paperwork out."
HR gets on the computer and starts filling out paperwork and we send it off. Still not probably going to complete the sale but if I get better vibes out of him, I might let it through. At the end of the day, usually when I get one of these the NICS check scares them off if they aren't good people. So, we wait and see.
I send off the info and, in true government fashion, it takes forever to get a response. After a few minutes of waiting and a police officer showing up for some gear, he decides that he wants to wait in the car. Pretty obvious where this is going at this point when he scrams when the popo shows up. But we'll stay the course for now.
After around 20 minutes, I ended up having a staff issue that I needed to take care of so I had one of the minions keep tabs on everything. HR is still in his car at this point even though the fuzz has already left. After I got my staff stuff taken care of, I walked back into the retail side and my employee was just kind of shocked.
Me: "Joseph, what's up? What happened with the Glock guy?"
Joseph: "Yeah, he got delayed and just stormed out. He was pissed."
Me: "Ok, joy, I need to cancel that transaction now."
That's really all I thought about it at first then an hour later the phone rings. 800 number that I've never heard of before, so probably a telemarketer...
Me: "hello?"
Other end: "Yes, this is Agent (Insert name) with the FBI. I need your FFL number and passcode."
Me: "Yeah, it's 4325097293 and the passcode is "Notyabiznass". Let me guess, this is about HR? He's getting denied?"
Then something I've never heard before.
FBI: "Not yet."
"Yet"? That... is new. Something is up here.
Me: "Not yet? Ok, well, I need to cancel his transaction, I don't think he's going to get a gun."
FBI: "No, don't do that yet."
"Yet" again? This is weird.
Me: "Oh, ok... Um... what can I do for you?"
FBI: "Yes, we were actually looking to get his phone number and address. Also, is he still there?"
Me: "No, he stormed out a while ago..."
Yeah, I have never had them ask for that information, especially phone number, on a background check. This is.... weird.
Me: "Um, ok... give me a minute, it'll take a bit to pull this up."
In the meantime, I engage in casual conversation. Talk about the weather, how crazy things are, etc. I get her the info.
Me: "Ok, so you still don't want me to cancel this?"
FBI: "No, not yet. We are still looking into this."
Me: "Uh... well, he like stormed out when he didn't get a proceed, he's not coming back...."
FBI: "Well, we're doing some extra research on him...."
I finally get it. They want the check to keep going. Dude is a bad man. Apparently really bad.
Me: "Oh, that's why you wanted to know if he was still here? Do we need to try to get him back up here so you can pick him up...?"
FBI: "No, don't do that."
Me: "Oh ok, so if he comes back in should we call you...."
FBI: "No, don't call us. But if you want, you can call 911."
Me: "Oh we're going there..."
FBI: "Yeah....."
Joy. So he's definitely not getting a gun. And I thought our story was over. It's not.
A couple hours later, literally as we are closing things down, the phone rings again. Florida number. Weird.
Me: "Thank you for calling Texian Firearms, this is Justin. How can I help you?"
FBI2: "Yes, this is special agent ..... from the FBI."
Me: "Oh, I bet you are calling for the 4473 for HR."
He pauses.
FBI2: "No... not why I was calling, but... that would be a good thing to have."
Oh boy, it's worse.
Me: "Well, what can I do for you?"
FBI2: "Yeah, just wanting to get some extra information on HR. What was he buying, what kind of car did he have, do you have the license plate...." etc.
We get to talking, throw some small talk in, and get a rapport going. I want to know what the hell is going on here.
FBI2: "Yeah, he is thinking he's in trouble for missing a court date. Truth is, he's on our wanted list for a lot of other stuff that he doesn't know about."
Aaaaand it gets juicy....
Me: "Sounds like this is a pretty bad dude..."
FBI2: "Yeah......"
And that's as much as I could get out of him. That's when I hooked up with FSGuide to see if he could dig anything up and he couldn't in the state of Texas. Being that the FBI agent was from Florida, maybe there but even then, who knows? It costs him a lot more to run stuff on other states. So sadly, this is all I know but I'll try to pull info on him in a while to see if anything ever comes down on him in Texas.
