The back 1/3 of my gun room is a vault/tornado shelter. Concrete blocks with rebar running through them into the slab and blocks filled with cement. Ceiling is 4-5 layers of concrete board. Vault door that opens inward so you can still get it open if something falls in front of it. Shelving and gun racks all around, vent fans with fire dampers on them. Front 2/3 is for workbenches and reloading equipment, I have a steel exterior door on that room.
I have been out Whataburgered.

Pics or it didn't happen.

It's not that fancy or even clean. Pics are from last time I posted them here, I've got even more crap in there now.

Building a new house with a gun room. Any recommendations/suggestions in what to include inside, other than guns, of course - they were lost in a tragic boating incident.
I'd make sure it has TV and or internet along with outlets...

You never know when you want to lock yourself inside it to get away from the wife/kids/in-laws.

Hell, plumb in a crapper and you'd be all set.

I have a place between Freer and Laredo that has bars on the windows. I will keep all your guns for you. Lol

Roger that! I have five more weeks here in West Africa than home for a few. We need to meet up down there and kill some brain cells

I think a stand-alone urinal would bring some class to the room

We had a tornado shelter in our previous home. It was crazy. Hidden very well behind some built in shelving in our closet. We didn't know it existed until after we closed and moved in. I noticed a "joint" in the shelving and was going to caulk and paint it. When I got on the ladder I noticed it.

We used tag room for my safe and for some essential storage. It was concrete block construction a d the ceiling was poured concrete about 10" thickness best I could tell. Certainly a cool find. I would have built something similar in our current build but I lost all of my guns in a tragic boating accident.
