I'd take a Gulf Coast Saber Cat over ever boat on your list (with possible exception of Reaper which I've never been on)

Second would be the Pescador. I run an Outlaw 230x so the 250 may be a tie, but, will be slower than the Saber Cat and EP.

Haynie is slow, but, great boat. Just scrap the Illusion and Shoalwater. The Shoal is a great boat if you're looking at a 7-10year old used boat, but, has just been passed up. The ride of the Illusion kills it of me.

If I ever sell my Outlaw, 99% chance it will be replaced with a Saber Cat.

My normal fishing crew friends own the Saber Cat, Haynie 24, 2 Shoalwater 23s, and an Illusion so I'm very familiar with the boats on your list.

Just a suggestion for you guys boat shopping. Make sure the brands you look at have NMMA ( National Marine Manufacturing Association) certifications. They set parameters for performance and handling requirements ( Turning ability at full throttle, as an example) and also construction requirements.
The list of certified manufacturers can be found on the NMMA web site. There are some manufacturers that don't meet the certification.
I was recently told that insurance companies are starting to red flag companies that are not NMMA certified and have much higher premium cost.
I. E. NMMA flotation requirements are much more strict than Coast Guard level flotation requirements.

I have a Shoalwater Cat and love it but that new JH Outlaw is bad a$$. I have a couple of friends that run them.

I can't comment on that. I guess they either feel it is not worth the effort to get certification or perhaps they are unable to pass the requirements.
It is interesting as to who is on the list. Lots of manufacturers.

Unless something has changed here recently that i am unaware of, which it totally possible, Eric sold SCB to ShallowSport. Right after he started up Eric Simmons Boats/Custom Boats or whatever, created new molds, new models, and owns the company 100%, and has zero to do with the SCB that was sold.

Correct, he sold the molds and SCB brand to shallow sport and created his new boats that are branded as Simmons boats.

Always blows my mind, those giant battleships in skinny little puddles. And the fish don't even get that big inshore. If you can store it near shore and just wheel it out to launch it that's not bad, but towing and running all that bulk, and then making all the payments. Dang...

Cats can be wet rides in a chop.

His Dad sold the company and molds to Shallow Sport against his will. Not a pretty divorce so to speak.

You know how i know you've probably never ridden in the boats he's looking at?? FWIW, not everything shallow running is a RFL 21, although if you know what you're doing in that boat you also won't be pissing blood.

Both of those Majeks and the JH Outlaw will absolutely beat you up in a chop. The cats are better but you sacrifice some running draft with them.

The Outlaw is a cat.

Actually I was a few weeks ago when I took the boys fishing over spring break. It could have been worse but definitely bounced around.

I would go with the 24 pescador cat. I also would not try to run it slow in heavy chop. When we fish from our buddies, it runs great with a 275 on the back. I would expect a 300 would be gravy. But I will also admit anything about 55 MPH on the water to me, is no fun anyway. I have a truck if I want to go 100MPH. I am not going fishing to race anyone anywhere. I fish to relax. No offense.

It will get up in spit and handles everything I have seen it attempt around POC.

My Cat handles chop better than most V hulls I've been in and a heck of a lot better than a RFL

Another point to this thread is that the way a boat handles can vary significantly depending on the driver. I bought the Outlaw because the center pod gives it a better ride than the 23' Cats I compared it to. (Tran, Shoal, and Haynie). The 24' Pesca and 25' Saber cats came later.

What ever happened to the character building of an early morning hour ride in the chop from bird island to Baffin in an 18' Kenner? Hair slicked back from the wind, skin crawling from an hour+ of vibration.

Kids these days just want a fast boat like they need to beat the fish to the spot.

Not sure how I missed this thread last year. I'm knee deep into this subject and familiar with all the boats that the OP listed. I have been back and forth between a 24' Transport SVT and a 25' Mowdy. I want to take the boat offshore when the weather allows it (usually on Mondays or Tuesdays ). Either of these boats will do that.
