Anyone have any cotton seed recommendations? The gin I use is completely sold out and not sure when they will get any back. I'm needing 25-30 tons (but will take what I can get) delivered to Webb county.

A buddy of mine hunts in Aguilares. I know they get corn and protein delivered from dilley. I'll contact him tomorrow and see if they deliver cotton seed.

I have no idea if there is any truth to it but I was told today that double down is buying everything up to put it in their feed? Seems crazy to me but who knows?

You seriously think double down is doing this? They are a pimple compare to the livestock feed industry.

There are several gins around Sinton. Also, we just bought a bulk bag of cottonseed from Muy Grande last week...might give them a call.

I don't think Lyssy/ Eckel sells whole cottonseed...cottonseed cattle cubes, yes, but not whole cottonseed for deer.

Lyssy and Eckel might as they are one of the few feed manufacturers that do a lot of catering to the deer hunting clientele. But, you are correct - cubes are their main thing but most feed stores do sell cottonseed meal - but that's in very short supply and pricey.

Speer Ag in Uvalde sells whole cottonseed in 50lb bags...don't know if they do bulk.

At 25-30 tons he stated, that's simply 1,000-1,200 50lb bags.

Talked to freer deer camp yet? They used to carry big sacks weighing around 1000-1300lbs. Don't think they deliver though

I know I got 3 tons recently from Lyssy & Eckel out of the Llano store which they get their stuff from the home store & plant in Poth. Also owner and his kids are Aggie Grads.

We have double down fill our feeders and then we also feed cotton seed. Some stations the deer eat 50/50 and some stations they eat more protein and less cottonseed and vice versa.

I found a place that will deliver 22 tons......best price so far I'm at is $557 a ton.

We just paid $550 a ton a few weeks ago. A few months ago, the price was something like $350, but by this point, there isn't much competition.

We also do Double Down year round on timed feeders, and cotton seed March - August. I haven't done it before, but was thinking about putting dried peas in the spin casters (Lamco low and throw) for the hot months. Anyone here do soybeans or peas?

So let me see if I got this right. You pay 5 plus a ton for a feed and need to pay another 5 plus a ton for a supplement to your protein?

If you have to do that there is something wrong with your feed.
