How long do you want to ignore this user?
I googled how to obtain a rifle suppressor and the info stated they only cost $200 for the stamp!? Is this all you need?

If you put it in a trust that will cost another $300 then you purchase the suppressor of choice and start the waiting game.....but once you get one you will not want to go back to shooting unsuppressed!!

A little more than that but it's not too difficult to get one (outside of the waiting). Search this board, lots of threads already on them.

Here is a link to SilencerShop which is an easy place to buy from:

Just started the process again last Monday, the GF is super interested in the process because she's a .gov stiff and enjoys bureaucracy. She's pestered me every day since I filed about when I'm going to get it in. This may be more painful than waiting for my first stamp.

I bought my first suppressor through the Silencer Shop. I did their on-line, fill in the blanks, Gun Trust thinking "this is the only suppressor I'll ever buy" plus the trust was cheap through them. That's like saying, "I'm only going to buy one gun". Penny wise, pound foolish. That served me fine at the time but realized the inflexibility later on. I highly suggest doing your Gun Trust thru a gun trust attorney who specializes. I had mine redone later. I can now designate someone as a trustee (with or without expiration date) so they can borrow, inherit, etc. Even if you go to the range with a friend to let them shoot your suppressor (or CL 3 weapon), technically it is a felony if you are not "joined at the hip" with them.
There are at least three gun trust attorneys in Texas who can help you. It may cost a little more but think long term your be happier doing it that way. I would recommend my guy, but sadly, he passed away unexpectedly in his mid-30s with congenital heart defect.

BTW, I love the Silencer Shop. I bought three from them. I just don't think their Trust has the flexibility you really need. Another suggestion, find a gun range to buy from. I bought my last from McQueeney Gun Range. During my 8 month wait for the Tax Stamp, I could go check my baby out of the church nursery, shoot it at their range, then check her back in until the Tax Stamp came back. I can't imagine how long that wait is today.

SilencerShop is fabulous. Cannot say enough good things about them and their network.

You also might consider doing a Form 1 build and buy a solvent trap.
We may not always get what we want. We may not always get what we need. Just so we don't get what we deserve.

Nee advice on which silencer to get.... hopefully I can get just one and use on multiple guns
I have a couple ar's in 223/556 but also have 3006 and a little 22lr.
If I can't get the 22 covered no big deal. Priority would be ar, 3006, then 22lr
TIA!

Some of the places will include doing the trust when you buy from them. Silencer Central is one, I think Silencer Shop does as well.

You're going to want a .22 suppressor too. Get two...one for .30 cal and one for .22. Suppressed .22 with subsonic ammo is dang fun and quiet.

I have the Sandman S that I use on my AR-15s, AR-10 and 6.5CM bolt gun and the Mask for .22.

Almost for Silencershop. It is $25 for the single shot trust, but if you purchase through their kiosk, it is pretty simple, and their system pretty much makes sure the feds don't disapprove your application

I bought my trust through Gun Trust Guru. It has the flexibility for adding or removing someone. Normally its $79.95 and can all be done online.

I also used Jim Willi but I paid a little more and used his personalized service to make sure I had everything covered and to answer questions I had. I'm liked the piece of mind of speaking to him and the education I got. I'm not sure what all the online trust covers, but just wanted to give a thumbs up to the customized version as well.

That said, the .22 can is awesome (currently in jail but I get conjugal visits). I'll get a Q Trash Panda or Thunder Chicken for my 300BO Honey Badger and a couple other cans for the ARs. And maybe another .22 or two for the family. Hopefully they'll make nice Christmas presents to myself.

Do I need a trust for every surpressor? Or one trust and register multiple cans on it?
And who are individuals you recommend to do trust? The guy who died lived in my neighborhood but I've not seen anyone else recommended

I have it set up for one trust for all suppressors that I may buy. As stated above, I used Jim Willi:

https://texasguntrust.com/

He's in Austin but the docs are emailed to you to sign and notarize before scanning for him to review. He then says ok and you're good to go. Super easy.

The thing about adding people to your trust, each responsible party (trustee) must get the background check for each suppressor bought after they are named in the trust. So get as many as you can with just you on the trust before you name others, if possible. It saves paperwork.

Greatly appreciate the info. So what if I want to have my 11 yo son on the trust? Still a background for a kid... Would seem odd

Silencer shop is by far the easiest. For trust, paperwork and transfer to local dealer.

Actually Silencer Central will do all the paperwork for you (except the fingerprint cards) and will deliver it to you directly instead of to a dealer.

Except they don't carry any suppressors I'd want. Kiosk is also easier than hassling with fingerprints.

I went with Silencer Shop also for mine, as they had the easiest end to end process including not having to go elsewhere to get fingerprinted. (I had to do this during covid times for my CHL and the wait was substantial to get a fingerprint appt)

I also used a local range as my FFL to I can go shoot it there until it is approved. Silencer Shop makes it very easy. I was in and out in about 30 mins including all fingerprints, trust, and purchase of item.

Did mine through Jim as well, great experience and have referred friends to him, all very thankful I did as he provided them with the same great experience as well.

Any 30 cal can will work for 556as well. There are 50+ on the market and likely almost all the best are hard to find. Silencer Shop website and YouTube has a ton of demo videos. Typically the thread pattern is different for 762 barrels vs 556 barrels, so you may need a thread adapter on the 556 to use the same can. Then you need to decide if you want a direct thread or quick connect, your weight ballpark and length ballpark. I bought a Q 30cal can (they have 4x 30cal options.)

22lr is dirty ammo and youll want a seperate can for it, most 22 cans can be dissassembled for cleaning vs most centerfire cans cannot and cleaning isnt necessary.

Dead Air Nomad for 556 and 30/06. They are pretty modular and you can chose a dozen mounting options.
22lr my dad has a Q erector. I like it a lot more than my sparrow. I'd go with the Erector.

Did a trust through guntrustguru.com - very simple process. Purchased through Capital Armory and they handled everything else, i.e. prints, notary, and forms, I believe other sellers are similar in that regard. Read through the FAQ's on their site: https://www.guntrustguru.com/faqs - this really helped me understand trusts and the process

I'm not at attorney but I don't think an 11 year old can be a trustee on a gun trust. He can be listed as a beneficiary in the case of death, but not a trustee...thus he won't need a background check.

I went with dead air sandman. It comes with a custom flash hider that it mounts to with a quarter turn or so. It will shoot most everything based on a 30 cal rifle bullet. Especially looking forward to 300BO.
