I googled how to obtain a rifle suppressor and the info stated they only cost $200 for the stamp!? Is this all you need?
Some of the places will include doing the trust when you buy from them. Silencer Central is one, I think Silencer Shop does as well.88agswin said:
If you put it in a trust that will cost another $300 then you purchase the suppressor of choice and start the waiting game.....but once you get one you will not want to go back to shooting unsuppressed!!
I bought my trust through Gun Trust Guru. It has the flexibility for adding or removing someone. Normally its $79.95 and can all be done online.F4GIB71 said:
I bought my first suppressor through the Silencer Shop. I did their on-line, fill in the blanks, Gun Trust thinking "this is the only suppressor I'll ever buy" plus the trust was cheap through them. That's like saying, "I'm only going to buy one gun". Penny wise, pound foolish. That served me fine at the time but realized the inflexibility later on. I highly suggest doing your Gun Trust thru a gun trust attorney who specializes. I had mine redone later. I can now designate someone as a trustee (with or without expiration date) so they can borrow, inherit, etc. Even if you go to the range with a friend to let them shoot your suppressor (or CL 3 weapon), technically it is a felony if you are not "joined at the hip" with them.
There are at least three gun trust attorneys in Texas who can help you. It may cost a little more but think long term your be happier doing it that way. I would recommend my guy, but sadly, he passed away unexpectedly in his mid-30s with congenital heart defect.
BTW, I love the Silencer Shop. I bought three from them. I just don't think their Trust has the flexibility you really need. Another suggestion, find a gun range to buy from. I bought my last from McQueeney Gun Range. During my 8 month wait for the Tax Stamp, I could go check my baby out of the church nursery, shoot it at their range, then check her back in until the Tax Stamp came back. I can't imagine how long that wait is today.

I have it set up for one trust for all suppressors that I may buy. As stated above, I used Jim Willi:
https://texasguntrust.com/
He's in Austin but the docs are emailed to you to sign and notarize before scanning for him to review. He then says ok and you're good to go. Super easy.
The thing about adding people to your trust, each responsible party (trustee) must get the background check for each suppressor bought after they are named in the trust. So get as many as you can with just you on the trust before you name others, if possible. It saves paperwork.
Take him off the trust for a hot minute...add him back on.trip98 said:BSD said:

Greatly appreciate the info. So what if I want to have my 11 yo son on the trust? Still a background for a kid... Would seem odd
Actually Silencer Central will do all the paperwork for you (except the fingerprint cards) and will deliver it to you directly instead of to a dealer.JeremiahJohnson said:
Silencer shop is by far the easiest. For trust, paperwork and transfer to local dealer.
I went with Silencer Shop also for mine, as they had the easiest end to end process including not having to go elsewhere to get fingerprinted. (I had to do this during covid times for my CHL and the wait was substantial to get a fingerprint appt)JeremiahJohnson said:
Except they don't carry any suppressors I'd want. Kiosk is also easier than hassling with fingerprints.

Any 30 cal can will work for 556as well. There are 50+ on the market and likely almost all the best are hard to find. Silencer Shop website and YouTube has a ton of demo videos. Typically the thread pattern is different for 762 barrels vs 556 barrels, so you may need a thread adapter on the 556 to use the same can. Then you need to decide if you want a direct thread or quick connect, your weight ballpark and length ballpark. I bought a Q 30cal can (they have 4x 30cal options.)trip98 said:
