I have a long asphalt driveway. I have one of those manual tamper thingys to repair potholes with asphalt patch but I'm thinking about getting a gas powered tamper compactor machine since I have a good bit of work to do. Any recommendations?

Also has any one bought asphalt in bulk other than just in bags at a big box store?

Better buy all the patch material now, and don't buy a gas powered machine to perform the work. Bunker Biden is going to eliminate oil/fossil fuels.

Why not rent one? We have one at our shop. I think it was like 800 used after our previous one "disappeared". New I think they're 1500-2000 that would pay for a ton of days renting

You can sometimes go to a asphalt plant and they will load a trailer for you. Make sure you specify " hot mix - cold lay" or you will have a black mountain of rock when you get home with it.

Rent a plate compactor, go to United Rentals or Sunbelt or wherever and they will have them. Probably less than $100 a day and you don't have to worry about the maintenance.

But then I can't be lazy and do a few potholes at a time.....
