Current Thermal Budget - $375

I had the "pleasure" of hog hunting with a fellow OBer this weekend. Had a great time but now question all life decisions that have led me to this point and convinced me of the "need" to get into the mid to upper echelon with thermals. Regrettably I will have to part with a few things in the safe to make this happen.

First up-

AR-15 in 556. Recently built and never fired. Primarily PSA components including a stealth lower and the completed upper with flip up sights. Lantac curved trigger, hogue grip, minimalist stock, BCM charging handle.

$1750 with Optics (EoTech and Vortext 3x)
$1250 without (including flip up sights)

This is a break even price for me based on cost of parts at the time of purchase, the price is firm. Can throw in a box or two of 556/223 at reasonable market rate with purchase.



AR #2

Throwing this one into the mix. Upper has several hundred rounds through it but recently slapped it on a new lower. Will only sell this one or the one above. Can swap optics around as desired. Ruger Upper and PSA lower. Fit is fine, no wiggle.

As is (with current optics) $1200
Without optics (including rear flip up) $900

Not gonna beat a slightly used upper but with SSA-E trigger for the price. Optics are a Vortex 3x and a Romeo 4.

TBD. I dabbled in the ATN for a short time and have bounced around since. I like the quality DNV stuff (what I have now) but it's worthless when you're scanning fields with no back drop for the IR.

I've known for awhile I just needed to suck it up and buy a good pulsar or I'm also intrigued by the Rico Iray discussed awhile back on the board. Gotta see where my budget is going to fall at the end of the day,

Bering Optics have 3 models from$3,200 down to $1,500 Hogster Stimulus just released.

All have good reviews online. Late Night Vision show really likes Bering Optics Thermals.

I'm likely going with Hogster 35 or a Pard from EyeGuy. I just haven't seen much on Pards

Guess I'll circle back to this (and shamelessly bump my thread). I ended up on a couple of Pulsars that I thought would be in my realistic budget (3-4k including mounts, batteris etc.). The thermions really peaked my interest with their more standard scope look along with some of the features within my budget. The XQ38 was most interesting to me all things considered - 2.5 base magnification (wide FOV at base mag-most my hunting is <100yds). Unfortunately everything is pretty tough to come by these days, I talked to Kelso about that specific model and he told be new orders wouldn't be filled until early next year, there's that much of a backorder on these models, and much of the thermal stuff in general.

All that said, I got lucky one day surfing the interwebs, found a Thermion XM30 that I went ahead and jumped on. Not exactly the tier I was aiming for (still a "budget" thermal) but a good way to get familiar with the model and I figure could still upgrade to "higher end" (maybe truly higher end into the 640 core tier) once the dust has settled next year and I actually get out and use this as often as I'd like. Thermion pictured below, gun porn for everyone's troubles.
