Taking the daughter on a float from Mcqueen's Landing (south of Steinhagen Reservoir) to the bridge at 1013.
Seems easy enough. Wondering if anyone has information on safe spots to park vehicles at put in or pull out spots. Google Maps doesn't show much in the way of parking areas. Anyone familiar with this area? Thanks in advance.

Are you set on the Neches? I'm not aware of any public parking for put-in/take-out around 1013.

In that general area I'd do Village Creek. Or do the Angelina from Rayburn Dam down to 63. You could also do Bevilport down to Martin Dies SP on Steinhagen.

I did 1013 to 96 about 7 years ago. We used Eastex Canoe to drive us to the drop off and pick us up. We parked at Eastex and didn't have to worry about someone breaking in while parked at either end. They have access at 1013.

Any FM road will have about a 80-100' wide ROW that will provide public access at a bridge. The ROW is usually much wider than the bridge. The local landowners may fence it off but the fence would have been built on state controlled property and the public has access rights within the ROW.

That doesn't mean it will be practical or easy to do of the bank is a mess or steep or muddy or a cliff.

This is good advice. If you do the bevilport to Martin Dies trip you'll find Corps of Engineers campgrounds up and down the river

I would recommend float the Sabine River below Toledo bend to highway 63. The water is much cleaner and clear in this section and it will be more of a float if they are generating. That is a little further drive but tack a paw canoe services it.

I have also floated below Angelina below Rayburn. It has surprisingly low flow for what I expected -ie it felt like a mostly flat water paddle

Agree on Village Creek. Put in near silsbee and out near Lumberton, if the water is high enough.

The Sabine below the Toledo dam is great. Water gets really clear and good fishing.

OP, my wife wrote the "Neches River Users Guide"

It's a small water resistant users guide with put in and take out points along the river. It has GPS coordinates of every interesting feature along the river as well as history of the area.

Printed by Texas A&M Press and available from numerous sellers including Amazon.

McQueens Landing has a public boat ramp where you can park and 1013 does have a take-out point where you can park as well.

Thanks to all for your advice. We had a blast this weekend. McQueens to Sheffield Ferry Rd ramp at 1013. Looking forward to trying some of your suggested floats in the future.

Very cool. I'll put that on my list.

I'd never done that trip but used to be in a hunting club on the west bank of the Neches between Rayburn and Dam B. I've also done Village Creek and day trips fishing below the dam on Toledo Bend.

Post pics if you've got them
