Patriots launched me into a several year binge of similar type books. The sequels to Patriots were lacking though. Patriots is a manual wrapped in a novel.

Another great book if you like guns and the Second Amendment stuff, is Unintended Consequences. The high in quality hardcover copies with dust covers intact fetch (or used to) almost $300. Long, but great read.

After watching the last 12 hours...HOURS..of censorship overreach by media platforms and the vocal support for it, these two books will be eventually removed from shelves and/or the market at some point.

I have 4 books that I intend to leave my son upon my passing with instructions to never git rid of and keep to pass on to his kid as a bundle:

Patriots
1984
Unintended Consequences
The Bible

Heck where we are headed, all four might be contraband at some point.

I'd add the complete Foxfire series and Fahrenheit 451 to your collection.

The knowledge in the Foxfire books is priceless, and the stories are excellent.

As for F451, we always need to remember that we were warned of the dangers of censorship.

Paul Horgan's The Great River. It's a two-volume history of the Borderlands/American Southwest/Texas told from the perspective of the Rio Grande.

Came here to post this - incredible story, regardless of if you're a Teddy fan or not.

Hi) this topic is for designers but I know several reviewers to find book and movie reviews. I recently found a cool review https://freebooksummary.com/category/the-road of a Jack London book with themed visuals. I liked the gothic style with elements of tragic art. I associate Jack London with coldness and fear of desolation.

I've started reading Open Season by C.J. Box. It's the first book in a pretty long series of novels centered around a fictional Wyoming game warden, Joe Pickett. I'm pretty early into it but it's a good one so far.
My brother raves about the CJ Box books, but the ****ass has never offered to loan me one! This after I've loaned him several that I've never seen again. I love that guy. He's an old Ag fighting lymphoma and I wouldn't trade him for anything.

Currently reading his latest "Long Range". So far, so good. It's my first venture into more modern storytelling and it's strange to read lyrics to "Old Town Road" in a western(ish) novel. Made me realize I read a lot of old books with 0 reference to current pop culture.

I'd also recommend the Joe Pickett series by CJ Box to the OP if he's looking for fiction. Not the greatest storylines imo, but great at developing the characters and the settings imo.

It's coming to TV soon also.

Page 2, and no one has told the OP there is only ONE Good Book?!?! (unless I missed a post) Bunch of heathens on this board...

I am currently working through a Reader's CSB Bible, and really enjoying it! Reader's have no chapter or verse numbers, but the exact same text. It is amazing what a different experience it is, as it flows more like a narrative (or any other book we read). Makes some difference things come alive in the text.

Some fantastic suggestions here. Didn't see Beyond Fair Chase, and Meditations on Hunting so adding them to the list. Although good luck finding the latter, I had to read it on a pdf I found online.

Maclean's writing is more beautiful than the landscape in the story. Pure poetry.

The Eiger Sanction

Classic book. Nice mix of espionage and mountain climbing.

Just read this. Highly recommend. Very eye opening and written with different perspectives as multiple people on the expedition kept detailed journals.

Finished Lonesome Dove, Old Man And The Boy, The Old Man's Boy Grows Older & Don't Shoot the Decoys since I posted last on here.
LD is a classic of course as everyone knows.
The Old Man And The Boy is outstanding. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you have not read it.

I think I'm going to order Duck Gods Must Be Crazy next since I'm on a duck hunting kick now after reading Decoys. Any other good bird hunting books to add to the list?
