I love Business Wars. I learned so much I didn't know about how products got their start. The conversations are dramatized but it definitely keeps your interest. My kids starting listening to it and got hooked. They bring up little antidotes all the time when we see certain products are advertisements.

Most prolific poacher in SoTX. Lots of great stories.

Just finished this podcast. Wow. That was a good listen. I would like to buy his book but it looks like it's sold out on his website. If anyone has a copy they would like to get rid of let me know.

If you liked serial, you'll love S-Town. Also everyone saying Dan Carlin is right. The man is a master.

S-Town is one of the best ever.
Necromonipod is good for true crime, but they venture into some weird stuff, and Dateline is good true crime to just pass time.
Came back to add Timesuck. Dan does some really excellent historical podcasts. His format takes a little time to get used to, but he thoroughly covers the topics he chooses.

I guess I'm in the minority but I thought S town was an incredible let down. Started out with a bang but it took about two episodes to realize there was absolutely zero to the story and it was nothing but smoke and mirrors.

I definitely wouldn't recommend it

My first student just started an Agricultural based podcast. It's called "The Red Barn". Only a few episodes, but he is a bright fellow. Give it a listen.

Dan Carlin's hardcore history is the best podcast I've ever listened to and I've listened to a bunch.

Not to derail, but how about giving me some audio book recs? Have 18 hours in the truck coming up next week. Already listened to Lions of Kandahar, Empire of the Summer Moon, Blood and Thunder.
I'm guessing you've already listened to all parts of supernova in the east? I'm 3/4 of the way in and digging it

I enjoyed "Mobbed Up", it's about the history of the mob in Las Vegas.

Very well done, and features a lot of conversation with a guy that was actively involved in the mob scene there.

Supernova in the East is incredible. Its a long listen, but at the same time Dan packs years worth of war history into several 3-4 hour segments that explains a lot of how the Pacific war went.

Again, I'm glad I've heard several of these before seeing certain movies. Listening to this, then watching the movie, Midway (the recent one) made the movie better.

I finished "The Orange Tree" about the murder of Jennifer Cave in 2005 in Austin. Pretty interesting.

I want to listen to more of "Son of a Hitman" but there is only 1 episode for whatever reason. It was a good teaser though.

Just listened as well. What a story, I would love to hunt the live oak canopy he refers to on The Kennedy Ranch.

All episodes of Son of a Hitman are available on Spotify. It's definitely worth a listen.

Since the Catholic Church owns it now, go do it. Just ask for forgiveness when you're done. They're absolutely NOT a bunch of hypocrites in that regard.

Bear grease and This Country Life on the MeatEater stream.

I also listen to the AgriLife podcast called Ag Law in the Field. It's very informative if you are involved in agriculture in anyway.
