I've been happy with Texas rigging them. No tangles. And no bag needed.

ETA: H&H No Hassle variety is what I've been using.

Premade Texas-rigs work well for hanging in the off season. However they do tangle quite a bit if you have a big spread and have multiple carabiners that will inevitably get mixed up with your other sets. Another thing is that if a varmint chews the weight off, you're pretty much hosed. The weights are formed around the plastic cord without a hole in the weight so it's difficult to fix them when they break.

I personally prefer green nylon cord with a flexible lead weight around the keel when storing. Cheap, easy to replace and don't get tangled in your decoy bag.

I have some buddies who are aggies that are making no tangle PVC Coated Texas rigs with stainless fittings.

I have them on all my dekes. They are cheaper than Lifetimes and are handmade with better quality material.

Look up Texas Tough Rigs on instagram or give me a shout and ill get you in contact with them at 409- seven seven one -4340

Buddy of mine walks in a long ways to their spots, he and his crew came up with this rigging system years ago they say. Your standard Texas rigs, then they take rubber tubing 1in to 1 1/2in and cut it with a razor the length trying to NOT cut in a straight line but a twist is better. You run your line into the hose with the ends coming out and they use a big carabiner that has foam handle for comfort. Sling that over your shoulder and the dekes stay tucked together tight and lines do not tangle up. For storage it works nice also.

Apparently you guys have never used PVC Coated Stainless Cable.

I have some 6' cord for a diver spread that doesn't tangle at all. The cord has no memory and you can tie it in knots and get it out very easily

This is what I do. Texas rig with pvc coated ss cable. To secure the loops, I smash a small nut over the two cables. A little harder than using knots or ferrules. But I think it lasts longer and the threads help bite into the cables, but not cut through. You can buy the cable by the foot or roll at HD and cut your desired lengths. Also, I used double swivels so that if the swivels breaks I can easily replace it without cutting the cable.

Interested what others do too.

Yeah, this is Texas rigged. No major issues on the ones that are 24-30" long, but the ones that are around 42" get rat ****ed constantly.

My Texas rigs are 6' long. I let them dangle from the carabiner and then use one of those big reusable twisty ties and wrap it around about a foot and a half up from the decoys around the lines. Never get tangled and don't bounce around when I have them slung over my back on the walk to the spot.

Texas rigs from Academy. I put a big carabiner on the end, slide your hand down the chord to the decoys, and tie a loop knot, which tightens at the carbines.

Thus created a loop that you can use fir a handle and keeps decoys nice and tight.

Are you using 500lb+ mono. 300-400 tangles a lot easier.

Make sure you don't have any tag ends sticking out from your crimps.

Texas Rigs. I'm slowly switching over from the cheap game winners to the lifetime ones. You can absolutely make them on your own I just prefer to not mess with it. As some poster mentioned above, I don't tie them in a know, I use a rubber twist tie like this:

Nite Ize Original Gear Tie, Reusable Rubber Twist Tie, 6-Inch, Black, 12 Count Pro Pack, Made in the USA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SHBN21S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_BL78FbZPJ1Q8P

I have nothing positive to say about my experiences with mono rigs... they always seem to get tangled.

Think there's 84-90 decoys there. Looked like Sanford and Sons going down the intracoastal. I rig all mine with 400# mono. I loop the line on itself a couple times on one end then slide the tag end into a crimp and crimp the main line plus left over tag end together. Then I slide the other end into a pre drilled egg sinker and smash the egg sinker onto the line. Texas rigged through the decoy. I have a place I buy my weights from pre drilled plus he sells crimps and line.

The Pvc pipe prevents tangling during transport and storage.

The shorter one with the teal is better. I have cut about a foot off of the longer ones since this photo was taken. I gather all the looped ends at one time and push them through the pipe together, then attach them to the caribiner. The longer one is too too tight at the end. Cutting the pipe gave enough leeway to make it easy to connect the caribner without having to add a step with using a cord to pull them through.

Are they mono lines? The coated metal braid are so much more compliant and have no memory, especially in the cold.

No they are PVC coated stainless cable with all stainless rigging.

Better materials than lifetimes at $10 a dozen cheaper

Hunted with a guide on Texoma once who used all magnum dekes. He used a modified Texas rig that involved groups of 3 decoys. The three cords were connected by a heavy metal ring that would sink to the bottom with the weights.

So, if he threw out a "set" of 3 dekes, they would spread out on top of the water, but they would still be held together as a group. Setting out 30 decoys was basically reduced to setting out 10 "sets." Picking up the sets was easy.

It was quite impressive, but I haven't tried to recreate it.

I use the rubber twist ties as well after being shown by a buddy. Wrap it fully several times around the lines right above the decoys and there is no way for it to tangle. This is with Texas rigs using 400lb mono.

Lifetime Decoy's rigs are great. Been running them for 5 years on my dekes. The owners are good Ags.
