not a huge fan of BEPs myself but have some for today

BEPs taste like straight up rabbit turds. They are what they are.
We eat BEP's all the time. I have a big pot of them with ham, celery, onions and spices simmering now. My favorite way to eat them is in Texas Caviar. Never mixed them with greens before.
Ate some last night. Need to make some cornbread today for the leftovers.

Mix in some sausage and kale. BEPs are one of my favorite dishes.

I found some leftover blackeyed peas in the freezer from last year. I am reheating them and serving them with alongside ham, a fennel-mustard sauce, and greens.
The kids hate them so everyone gets their ceremonial no-thank-you bite for luck but nobody ever eats the leftovers.

Black eyed peas suck the moisture out of my mouth and like a poster above said taste like dirt.
Today I'm going to try rendering some bacon, saute some onion and jalapeos, add the BEPs and see if it's edible.
Counter that with steamed cabbage with bacon, onion with a side of cornbread! Yum!!

Such a waste.
Make a huge pot of Navy beans or any other kind of beans except BEPs!
Or.......... just cook something that actually tastes good without having to do a bunch of things to not make them taste like dirt.

I combined collared and turnip greens with ham hock, onion, garlic and a large Serrano pepper. Cooked to nearly soft. They were perfect. Black eyed peas with bacon, onion garlic, and another Serrano pepper. Throw in homemade cornbread. It's as good as it gets.
Have had my black eyed peas and cabbage.

LOL. Yeah, you just have to make sure to add all 55 ingredients that everybody's already mentioned to make them taste good. Ham hocks, bacon, onion, bbq sauce, ketchup, mustard, cocktail sauce, spinach, and a dash of cumin. Then you might have a chance of getting a spoonful down without gagging.
