I know there have been quite a few threads on pellets. I have sort of settled in on these two options. Which one is "better" and why? I need help deciding....

I have a camp chef...I love it. Haven't used a rec teq but have heard nothing but good things about them. Don't think you can go wrong with either.

I looked at the Woodwind and liked it but bought GMG Daniel Boone because I got a great deal on it. Woodwind looks nice however.

I already have a big stick burner and a charcoal PK Grill, and today I got the Woodwind for Christmas. Key for me was the Sidekick -- a 28k btu propane burner that, with the appropriate attachments, can be used for a grill, griddle, pizza oven, or cook a pot of shrimp. When I built my house I had a propane stub out put in in case I ever got a propane grill and I kind of wanted to use it...but I also wanted to try a pellet smoker. Now I think I have all the bases covered. I'll set it up tomorrow.

No experience on the rec Tex. Have a woodwind and it has been great!

I have a 590. As an earlier poster said, both are solid choices. I have no complaints with mine.

I'll gladly gtfo.

Not that Traegers are terrible, but you are paying mostly for name. There are much better options for the $.

Another option to look into is the Grilla Grills Silverbac. I was debating between GMG, Camp Chef Woodwind, RecTec and Grilla. They're all pretty comparable on price...but build quality and customer service are what pushed me to go with Grilla.

I've had the camp chef for a little over a year and I've never had an issue with a cook that wasn't user error. I'd get another one. However...I do have one complaint...the paint is peeling off the lid. It's flakey and i lose a little every time I cook on it. I've been around most other brands of cookers and I don't think I've seen any that have peeled like this...

Buy an actual offset backyard model. Look into mill scale or Moberg maybe.
