Thinking about getting one for the nightstand drawer next to the bed for quick access if ever needed, but safe from kids.

Any recommendations? I don't know what I don't know.

I'd go Fort Knox or vaultek

I wouldn't even get a biometric one. I've had bad experiences with even some of the most expensive ones, usually either failing to read my fingerprint or letting anybody open it when the batteries get low.

Agree. I have the Liberty and it works 50 percent of the time. Had another before that but can't remember the brand and it was worthless. Better options are out there that are more reliable.

I would avoid the biometric safes. They fail when you need them.

Yeah, and be aware that as you get older your fingerprints wear and are harder to read.

I have a barska. I loaded about 10 different prints off thumb and index in different position. It works like 95% of the time but it's slow. I'd recommend looking into a stop box.

This, do not get biometric. It's garbage, I regret that I bought one every time I attempt to get into my own safe. Don't let your life depend on batteries or if it "got a good scan of your print".

I have a vaultek. Its not worth it. The finger print reader rarely works on the first trip so I end up using the numbers.

I have a different one with the buttons for each finger. Always works. Much cheaper.

I have a stack on that is biometric. Garbage. Just like the others have said, don't go biometric.
